Looking at the Fellman wells,I installed the torpedo pumps  on many of them on  the pumping deck. A wee story involving these wells, Tony Dunster and I were checking one out ,it wasnt pumping correctly, so we opened the hatch and climed down the vertical ladder attached to the side of the well,I was checking the electrodes to see if there was a problem, mind you the other pumps were working and we were only checking the one that wasnt pumping. Needless to say we were now below the natural water table, all of a sudden there was a power cut,and Tony was struggling to get back up to the hatch,I was directly below him bumping him on the rear end with my head to hurry up as I could feel the water coming up over my legs, the water was up to my neck by the time I could get out.
Another close call.

a few more pics . The one of mid town . note the ancor wire is slack. that was as the result of a Ovambo that could not steer properly . Reason being - They worked on a chev motor car 's altenator , and to get to it , all vee belts needed to be taken off , including the one that drives the hydraulic oil pump . As the mechanics were thirsty , a trip to the bottle store was urgently requiered. and since the battery was in good condition , starting was no problem . comming from local hostel , he just could not steer properly around the corner without the assistance of the power steering . The ancor wire was in his way . fortunately the lamp post stayed upright.

Had a look at the March 2010 post with the CDM Water Affairs announcement. Who was in charge of writing these? I had to Google "propinquity" and found it to mean "one of the main factors leading to interpersonal attraction". Am I getting old or do the meanings of words change? Mind you - this one was totally new to me!

I remember when a Power Cut was a Power Cut, not a power outage....

Also wonder when it all changed....

re - the graves. about halfway between Alex airport an Beauvallon farm . the were a few black wattle trees. . graves about 30 yards on the river side of the road. on the opposite side , towards the south , 1. there were some ruins - and a trolley with a engine in very poor working condition , mounted on it . as these pics were taken more than 30 years ago , I doubt if any of these remains today . added two more - 2. On the way to Port - there was a turnoff and the farmers post box mounted on a pole - the postman to delivered once a week  - 3. an one year was a good flower year for O Munders to enjoy a weekend out and stay over at Springbok caravan park
