Title: Richard and Debby Opperman Reunion 2008 Saturday 15/11/200 Small Theater
Post by: Richard Opperman on December 05, 2008, 03:26:21 PM
We visited the small theater on Saturday morning.

It was good to see how fantastic the theater is looking. I last visited the theater +/- 40 years ago - so much has changed for me. It has a fantastic hall of remembrance of past shows - I have attached Oklahoma in which Debby, Geraldine and Georg participated in the 70s.

The theater has a few dedicated members who are doing a fantastic job with the theater, but it is a pity that the interest in the theater is dying.
Brenda Shout (might still be available) was selling off seat sponsership for R100.00 per seat, as a fund raiser and for you to have your name go down in history. Mike will be able to tell you if seats are still available for sale.

The following photographs are of the small theater as it is today.

Thanks Richard.

I bought a seat and a T-shirt  (already got a few "WOW's" from people who saw the T-shirt and asked what it was all about)  -  not that I want my name to go down in history  -  I just don't want the spirit and soul of art and culture die  -  I want it to live on with the town.  Performing art in every form is very dear to me, so... crazy as I am, you never know I might one day waltz about on that stage and the sooper troopers may shine down on me ....   then I will know, it has all come full circle for me.
