On Friday, 11 September 2009, our bus with all our National Science Fair
participants arrived back in Oranjemund, after having spent a week at
the National Science Fair competition in Windhoek.
We are very proud of our school's achievement.
Out of the 36 primary schools that participated this year, we won the
award, 'Best Science School in Namibia for the third time in the past
three years. We won fifteen gold medals in (First prizes) in five
different categories, with seven silver medals and seven bronze medals.
The judges complimented our pupils and the teachers for the professional
preparations and presentations of the various projects. One could see
that the hard work and effort has once again paid off. At the end of
this month, six of our children will represent Namibia at the '29th
Eskom Expo for Young Scientists' in Pretoria, South Africa..
Our Junior Secondary phase (High school), with only the three Grade 8
classes to represent OPS at this stage (Next year we add Grade 9 and in
2011 Grade 10) came third (Out of 35 participating schools) in the high
school division with their science projects.
Even though Namdeb, the town of Oranjemund and the school have gone
through much unpleasant change this year due to the international
financial crisis, the OPS teachers stay committed to well established
educational standards.
