Dear All

Thank You for this lovely forum, as we are big fans of Oranjemund and first visited the town in Dec 2017 during our annual 3 week Nam Trip. I am born Namibian, went to school in Swakop and studied in Germany. We live and work in Johannesburg, but fly in to Walvis Bay on a regular basis as well as doing long overland trips through Namibia during Dec/Jan holidays. My family is stil in Nam.

Why Oranjemund? My dad used to fly in very often for business and always told me how it went and all about the security measures etc and when we heard that the town will be open soon for visitors (genuine ones) we did not wait long. We stayed for two days at Op my Stoep, Fanie Smit, and really enjoyed it. Our next visit is planned again for this coming December, also because we are very interested to see how the town evolves further. Hope to see the game for many years to come. Also, your local MTC shop gave as a really good service in purchasing a Data Card.

Lets see what our next visit has to offer. Our Dream is to visit Bogenfels, but not as a guided trip. I saw Bogenfels once as a youngster when we played soccer against the German school in Lüderitz, end 70's, and the local authorities arranged that for us. Was very special.

So, to all who are keeping the wheels turn at/in Oranjemund, please do so in future.

Kind Regards
Ellen & Adolf

Yep! Mike , three consecutive years now where the once mighty Orange River has dried up. This occurs in in the AussenKehr grape growing area about 80km upstream.

A lot of reasons for this including unfair use by farmers further upstream.

We are currently awaiting higher waters as the rain from the Transvaal reaches us.

Oranjemund still has water down here at the lower end of the river.
