Belelie Family!
« on: August 23, 2009, 08:55:44 AM »
Can any of you help?

"Hello there,

I am Karen Roos (nee Fourie), now in Australia and went to Nigel High boarding school in 1979 & 1980.

I had a dear friend, David Belelie who went to Oranjemund private school in 1969 (sub B), I think there were 5 brothers ? David Belelie passed away in a car accident in 1980 in Joburg.
I know their Mother (Magdalena) passed away and was buried in Heidelberg, Transvaal.  The father remarried. I knew them when they lived in Balfour (in the old Transvaal) in approx 1970 & 80's ?

David Belelie came to our boarding school, Nigel High School, 1978 - 1980.
Is there any chance you may know them or someone who did? Would love to contact them after all these years. Appreciate if you could help.
Kind regards,
Karen Roos (nee Fourie)"

I remember the Belelie's well, they lived down the road from us at E19/11 I think it was. Davids younger brother Danny was good friends with myself, Sandy,Richard and a bunch of others that aren't active here. Sandy and Richard visit the site often and I'm sure if anyone knows the Belelie's where abouts it would be one of them.

I remember Paul Belielie who was an avid soccer player.  One of his coaches was Leila's father, Norman Austin.  For what its worth.

Only saw this post now. I remember the Belelie family very well and we were all good friends. Diana, you right, they lived up the road from us between Neville Watson and Gunther Deim if I am correct. The last I saw or heard of them was a news clip where they went to a shabeen and were murdered near Springs I think. This happened quiet a while back. I can't remember which of the Belelie brothers were involved in the incident.

Here is the full story from the newspapers on the murders. Unfortunately it is in Afrkaans Beeld newspaper.

Afgryse oor moord op vier wittes
Van Ons Korrespondent
ODENDAALSRUS. Hulle was mnr.
Mnr.

Here is Die Burger newspaper clipping of the murders dated 1st October 1990.

Slagoffers wou drank in swart buurt koop Familielid van vermoordes vertel hy was amper saam
Mnr. Mnr. Bertus Bruyns (21), 'n loseerder by mnr.

OK - Belelie family.  Errol is a widower and lives in northern Natal, Paul is in Cape Town, Cathy and her husband Vincent Hargreaves live in Milnerton in Cape Town, Naomi and husband live in Swakopmund.  A big sadness in my heart for the 3 younger brothers Danny, Michael & David.  Dad Aaron passed away at a grand age 2 years ago.  Cathy & I have been friends since we lived across the road from them.  Pat Kuhn (nee Jackman)
