1960 OPS Std 4 English Class Pupils!
« on: September 17, 2008, 08:10:10 AM »
I quote from Pat Kuhn (nee Jackman)

"Hi Mike this is a recent photo of what I look like now.  I am looking for OPS pupils who were in Mr Dickinson's Std 4 and Std 5 class in 1960 and 1961 - Jonathan Best, Mariaan Wolfaardt, Richard West (they left OM about then), Bunny (Leonora) Henshall-Howard, Patricia Head (she is in Australia now - saw her about 4 years ago after her dad died), Mavis Smith (we keep in touch - she taught me to knit in return for helping her with schoolwork and my grandchildren are very happy with their jerseys every winter!), Jeffrey and Roslyn Dodd (older brother and sister of Patricia Dodd), Paul Selby (been in touch), and about 20 others.  I will never forget how we carried on on the last day of school in Std 4 - we so enjoyed Mr Dickinson and we cried and carried on about not wanting to be taught by anyone else.  Mr Dickinson went out of the class for a bit and when he came back in he said he was going to be our teacher in Std 5.  What a day that was that 3 months short of my 60th birthday I still remember it so clearly.  "

almost forgot this part.....

"I would love to trace the 1960 OPS Std 4 English class kids - all, like me
60 or thereabouts - we had Mr Dickinson (we called him Dicky Bird!) as a
teacher and we had a great year.  On the last day of school in the last term
someone started crying and it caught on - boys and girls alike crying our
eyes out and we told Mr Dickinson we did not want to go to Std 5 because we
wanted to stay with him!   He left the class for about 15 minutes and we all
just sat there sniffing and crying.  When he came back he said that he had
arranged to teach the Std 5 class in 1961 - I still feel happy inside when I
think of that day.  We were the best-behaved class ever in Std 5.
I am in contact with: Mavis Padaruth (nee Smith) - she taught me to knit in
return for helping her with schoolwork - my grandchildren love the jerseys I
knit for them!

Thanks & regards, Pat Kuhn (nee Jackman)"
