Mike Stenson - Please advise . what is the best method of loosing waight ? avoid starch ? eat protienne ? + veggies ??  without taking any pills or shakes etc. . the problem is . the older one gets , the metabolism slows down + seniors have a addiction to starch , pasta , bread .. !!! . now what should one do ?  remember during one's working years we all abstained from beer etc . But once retired , why not enjoy a beer / or a tanker or Three - or four ? .thus loosing weight is a BIG problem ??

In my opinion there's NO perfect weight loss recipe. Some people lose weight easier than others, it's in the genes. But...  my advice would be:
1. Eat smaller portions more frequently. If you only eat one big meal a day, of course your body's going to store whatever it gets as fat - just in case it has to wait another 24 hrs to be fed!
2. Drink lots of fluids (sorry, more water and juice, especially vegetable juices, NOT beer, fizzy drinks or other alcohol).  Alcohol has the same effect as eating sugar, and also gives the liver unnecessary work to do.
3. Exercise.  If you're like me, the gym will NEVER see me, but at least go for a brisk walk in the dunes or something!  If you do not burn calories, your body will store them for later... in the form of FAT.
4. Color in the diet.  Your yellow, green and red fruits and veggies contain all the necessary minerals, vitamins, flavonoids and anti-oxidants to help the body get rid of excess bad stuff and helps repair damage and supports organs to work properly.
5.  Try to keep wheat, full cream dairy and sugar to the minimum.  Replace wheat products like bread, biscuits, pasta etc with rice, brown rice, lentils, beans.  "Pre-digested" dairy products like yoghurt, cottage cheese, feta are fine.  Sugar... just use less. Replace with cinnamon, honey, molasses or dates for example.
6. DON'T jump on a scale twice a day.  Maybe once a week.

Read the book...... its a high fat low carb diet not high protein diet.  faceinfood
