Namibian Birth Certificate
« on: November 13, 2014, 10:20:13 AM »
Hi Mike

I want to apply for my Namibian passport and need my Namibian birth certificate.
I was born in Oranjemund.

Does O/mund have a home affairs office?

Your help will be appreciated.

Gerda

Was wondering about that too.  Still waiting for E10/11 becomes vacant so I can move in...
My birth certificate and ID says "District Luderitz", so maybe if there's no record in O'mund my next stop would be Luderitz.  Toilet-Reading

Three years ago I had to contact Luderitz Magistrate's office for a copy of my sister's birth certificate.  Their contact no is +264 63 202313.

Nada thanks for your help.
I went to Luderitz and not only did i get my birth certificate but also had my Nam citizenship restored....all in one day.
Excellent service. Had to stop In Keetmans to apply for my ID and that is also now in process...

Have to drive back in two weeks to Keetmans to collect it.
Moving to Swakopmund soon ...so thanks again.

I was born in Oranjemund in 1958 and left for Australia in April 1968 with my family (Wally and Avril Jonker and my siblings Richard and Lucille). When I applied for an Australian passport in 1984, I had to write to South Africa/Namibia (can't remember where I sent the letter) for a full copy of my birth certificate. That was an exercise in itself. My birthplace is registered as Luderitz and consequently that's what appears in my passport. I still have my birth certificate and guard it very carefully.

The birth certificate I have is state of the art hand-written technology in blue ink from Luderitz. Have the certificates been updated to modern technology yet?

Mine wasn't just hand written... it was handwritten in Pretoria, but the last time I needed to get a copy was just around Namibian independence (1990).

I think everybody born before UN res435 came into play has their birth certificates recorded in Pretoria - it sounds like this has happened, but I wasn't sure if any of those were retrospectively copied/moved to Luderitz/Windhoek....

Hi All.
We have almost a similar situation. My wife was born in Windhoek 1984 moved to Johannesburg 1986. All of her documents are South African: ID, Passport, Birth Certificate. But when we applied for her unabridged birth certificate in South Africa they could not give it and said that it is in Namibia. How would we go about finding out if it is indeed in Windhoek and applying for a unabridged birth certificate?

If there is someone here that can give advise, that would be greatly appreciated. And to make it a little harder - we are in living in Perth:)

thanks
Willem
