The above building was built in
the mid 70's and now serves as the Home economics class.
When we went in here, I got goosebumps.
I have not stepped into this building since 1978. This was the
original school Audiotorium, the place where we would watch reel
movies of Danny the Cat and Zibbi on how to cross the road and
zappit in a Zibbi Blik. The musty smell is still in this room after
all the years.
Our part time Tour Guide and current
School Principal, Mr. Dieter Meyer having a rare moment to take
a seat.
A picture of myself , seated on
a bench in the old School Audiotorium .
The School Library was by far my
favourite place in the school. I was happy to know that my my childhood
book was still in circulation. "The Great Brain", by Fritspatrick.
I never actually knew this room
in my day, but it is part of the Library complex and was known
as the projector room in the old days.
Behind the library, this is where
we would spend many a break running inside the old fenced off tennis
court (since removed), playing games like Stingers, Red Rover and
Skalulu to name a few.

This is the door is next the library.
I found out today, that this building actually housed the Oranjemund
Photographic Society and had a windowless darkroom in the back.
I lived here for 38 years and never knew this.
Inside the darkroom.
You don't get many doors like this
in Oranjemund. This is the door to the Darkroom.
The teacher here, is none other
than former OPS pupil herself, Joanna Kalonda. She was a pupil
at OPS in 1977 and her teacher was MR.Badenhorst. Always great
to see the wheel turning.
The Chessboard Quad, the enterance
to my least favourite subject at OPS, woodwork.
Moving with the times, Oranjemund
Private School's Computer Room. Top Notch stuff and a subject that
I so dearly wished had been around in my day instead of the Abacus.
I would just like to thank Mr.Dieter
Meyer for taking a bit of time out of his hectic schedule for showing
us our memories.
