Hey everyone,

Does anyone remember the Wolfberg police station that was on the Springbok-Kleinzee road (R355)?  I came across some old slides that I had converted to photos.  The building was in the Spektakel Pass.  I vaguely remember stopping there in the early 80s on the way to Kleinzee and taking a few photos.  Always wondered about the history of the place.

I found the spot on Google Earth (29°34'29.02"S,  17°28'34.77"E) and the building can clearly be seen and the star and the "Wolfberg" sign on the side of the hill is just visible.

Check the old photos below.

Cheers

Hi there

My family used to live in Wolfberg in the early 1960's.  My dad was the Secretary of de Beers Mines over there.

We lived away from the community- on the banks of the Buffelsrivier.

During the week myself and my brother attended school at Grootmis and resided in the hostel over there.

For entertainment my dad used to project black and white films on the external walls of one of the buildings in Wolfberg - it almost served as a kind of "drive-in".

My dad used to love hunting as a past time and he was a terribly reckless driver through that Spektakelberg

Hope you find this helpful...

Cheers

Annette

Hi Annette,

Wow! Thanks for that interesting piece of history,

I actually drove past the Wolfberg sign yesterday and as always wondered what it alluded to.

Your post has started a discussion in the office as Arthur use to live in Kleinzee and just commented about Grootmis, it amused him how this school and hostel were in the middle of nowhere...

They use to also screen B&W movies against the wall at Beauvallon...... outside cinema\

Thanks for the memory, keep posting...
