How many of you or your parents were involved in buying Bonus bonds? A form of Government approved gambling...My old lady used to have those Bonus Bond wallets, the blue ones....
and they're worthless today? Or are you wanting to swap for Eskom..... :emot19:
I recall them so well . it was one way in which I could save .. the prospect of winning a prize was the carrot .. I think they also had a token interest rate attached as well .. its pretty much like the FNB Million a month account , also a token interest rate , 32 day call but with the prospect of a whopping prize .. but anyhow even if you won 50 000 its better than wining nothing hey ?? ..
Anyhow I recall when I was buying the first house in the early 80's that R 3000 that I had in Defence bonus bonds came in handy ,, I cashed them in and used as part of down payment for house .. I remember there was a big information drive when they were about to be discontinued to inform people that they had to cash them in or else they would become worthless ...........
I don't suppose anyone might have one? Scan an image and post it pls?
pls
