There are 3 people known who have survived the sinking of the Titanic and the sinking of her sister ship the Brittanica.

It's no, because the Britannia still sails.

OK son, point taken
Now i wait for answers to my question
I think it was the "Deutschland". It was deafanetly a German ship. Probably late 44 or early 45. Traveling from former East Prussia westward with refugees.

Part is true
9000 Killed
Whats the ships name, its not the Deutschland
Glotschmolimgoogle oder ZDF hatte Film vor 2 wochen verschtehscht
Okay. I'll check that. I don't think it was 9000. I think it was more like 2000 dead. We'll find out.
9000 iknow but as usual U dont beleive me meanpuff
Okay. Found it .
9000 dead or should I say vanished. Mainly women and children.
"Wilhelm Gustloff" was it's name.
Thats it son
Youre turn
Let me put it this way:
The Titanic sank in 1912 after she struck an iceberg. There were a number of survivors.
Her sisther ship, the Brittanica was built after that with changes to her hull, but due to the wold war the tourism industry was down, so the Britannica was converted to a hospital ship that fetched injured soldiers from somewhere near Turkey off an island in 1941. She did a number of trips, but then the Germans laid mines in one of the channels somewhere in die Midland sea, and she struck a mine and went down within 55 mins.
The question then: True or falce - 3 people who were on the Titanic and survived her sinking were also onboard the Britannica when she went down and also survived her sinking.
that's like being struck by lightning twice Dalene.
I found a ship called Brittania. Thought that was what you meant. I think it sayls under Scottish flag.
It is falce.
Only 1 person is known of who had survived both sinkings.
A woman who was a nurse, 17 years of age then, for an eldery lady on the Titanic and then later did service as a nurse on the Britannica is the only person known who had survived both incidents. She was lucky enough to end up in a lifeboat from the Titanic. When the Britannica went down, she also ended up in a lifeboat. Word has it that she fell from the lifeboat and went under. As she came up, her head struck the underside of the lifeboat and she momentarily sort of passed out. When she came to, the lifeboat had drifted away from her. The next moment the same lifeboat she was in, was sucked in closer to the ship and when the propellors came up the lifeboat was struck and all the people inside it was shredded to bits infront of her eyes. She was picked up by another lifeboat later.
Here the story of the ship
http://www.greektravel.com/greekislands/kea/britannic/index.htm
There was a cool film on ZDF the other night about the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff. What makes it so sad is that most victims were women and children. Furthermore, the whole tragedy was overshadowed by the sinkings of the Titanic and the Lusitania. I suppose if u'r considered the "bad guys" in a war, the rest of the world doesn't really care.
That's why nobody realy knows this story.
I remember the History lessons during my schooldays. Nothing was ever mentioned about the attrocities committed by the Russians at the end of WW2. My mother was 6 years old at the time and the stories she told us would make the hair on the back of your neck rise.

Not just the Russians. All armies at war have always done more than just their "job". There's no difference which country. There's no sence in "crying over spillt milk" anymore. Negotiation is our only chance. I believe the EU is a good example for "peace-work". The first thing is forgiving. The second is, to know future is only possible if we work together in (or is it with) respect.
That's so true jnr. Unfortunately the natural human tendancy is to try the violent approach first.
If we cross the border to France (i can only mention France, as France is the only country near enough to just pop in) it may happen, that some one looks down on you and tells you to go home. But it's something you'll find everywhere including Germany. But the tendance is important. The attitude in general. That's working pretty well.
And i thought that here
is a question topic false or true..........You are diverting......
To Jnr statement, i never had that feeling in France, never ever and i was there 7 years after the war had ended.
At that time they had good reasons to hate us !!!!!!!!
You can not weigh atroceties by the allies to german wrongs. We must just remember, they liberated us from that austrian idiot
The Gustloff is one example, that was total war. See what we have done to the Russians.......We dit not care about civilians, women children. Its us that started the s..t. Lets never forget
I could now also rant about the others, The destruction of Dresden was not fighting military, it was destroying civilians. If Adolf had his way before he would have done worse in britain. See the battle of britain, a good example how dedicated they defended England !!!!
The Allies dit not fight us cause of the Jews. They would not care less. They fought against Hitler system. If he had his way, i dont want to think of what would have happened.
Napoleon had tried that before. He is still a Hero. But never had he done anything like us aginst the Jews. Its a shame on us for ever. We the innocent generation must recognized that.
Dont bow your head, but dont forget..... I wish all would go to Verdun and see the results of WW 1
So that my point of view.
Now back to the Topic please
You're right. Should get back to the topic. Before, just one more sentance. I just took the experiances I made in France as an egsample. They're just as nice as anybody else. I was only refering to the fact, you'll find people like those I met (and have heard of) everywhere in the world. But on an average, we're living peacefully in Europe more than ever. I hope this may start working in other places of the world.
Konrad Ardenauer was the first German Kanzler and longest (time).

Sorry! I think I'll have to call you oldman again... lol
Mit der Gründung des Norddeutschen Bundes 1867 wurde Bismarck zu dessen Kanzler ernannt.

You're right. Germany was only grounded in 1871. He was Kanzler of the " Northen German Union" which was later part of the Deutsche Reich. How could I ignore that fact.
I feel ashamed and I'm blushing. I'll even stand in the corner for ten minutes.

False - Koalas are often called as "koala bears" - this is not correct. Koala is not a bear but a marsupial. The closest relative of koala is a wombat, which also has cute and cuddly appearance, but it's never called a "wombat bear". Ha Ha that was a trick question. Koalas are synonymous with Australia but not 'koala bears'.

True or False.
In times of war, it is possible for a soldier to be charged with murder, after he has killed an enemy.
That is true
But........the circumstances must me very clear, when in combat i see no charge
My Father was killed by a german soldier who was never charged, the truth is unclear and can not be reconstructed
I.E. Poland was considered an enemy, many people were killed only few hanged for that after Nürnberg Trials.
Also see the world court The Hague.
I am lucky that i never had to take part in any of those things.
That's true oldma. We in fact are very lucky living in Europe today. Probably the most stable part in the world.
Ok let me rephrase the question a bit to make it clearer.
A soldier is in a combat situation. Standard rules of engagement and Geneva Convention laws apply. He encounters an enemy soldier and shoots him dead using the weapon and ammunition issued to him by his government. He can be charged with murder for this deed? True or false?
Thats much clearer now.
He can not be charged for murder in that case.
Thats what i ment pending on circumstance. Many where killed under different circumstances but also never charged.
Ok, so your answer is False?

Ok, so your answer is False?
I take it,thats a question
No i think my answer is correct
Georg, your answer can be right or wrong depending on from which viewpoint you look at it.
I read an article recently which got me thinking back to my time spent in the SA defence force. The main points of the topic were as follows:
"Under the laws of the Geneva Convention, it is a criminal offence for a soldier to in any way alter or modify the weapon or ammunition that he is issued with prior to entering into battle".
Military weapons and ammunition that are designed and manufactured according to the rules of the Geneva Convention must be of such a nature that they kill as humanely as possible without inflicting undue pain and suffering. This gave rise to the "full metal jacket" ammunition used by all countries that follow the Geneva Convention. What this boils down to is that if you use a standard issue rifle and ammunition when going to war, you are protected by the Geneva Convention, and are performing your deed as an act of war. No criminal charges in this case.
If, however, you decide to play Rambo, you are no longer seen in the eyes of the law as a soldier defending his country, but a soldier going out to commit murder. By altering your weapon and ammunition to inflict more damage to the enemy, you are showing "intent" to commit murder, which is punishable in most countries.
An example of this came to light during the bush war in Angola. South African soldiers would sometimes cut a cross into the point of their copper jacketed bullets with a nail file. The purpose behind this was to cause the bullet to explode upon entering the enemy soldier, inflicting horrendous injuries. I'm not sure if anybody was charged during this time, but the practice was soon outlawed after foreign journalists began enquiring into the nature of injuries seen on dead enemy soldiers.
Yes Carl you are right with your explanations
War was always a dirty thing.
Most illegal action contravening the convention, go unpunished since its very difficult to proove.
On the other hand, i would not condem the action with the bullets.
The Mines are worse and still cause lots of problems all over the world.
Not all nations signed that treaty, i beleive Germany condems landmines.
East Germany and east block made a lot of money with that.
Modern weapons also contravene the convention.
USA would not care less. But who would care in time of war.......?????? The most dirty buisiness and money racket.
In WW 1, 25 000 americans became millionaire through deals.
The German Kaiser invested in russian amunition facturies
Krupp Germany supplied the english with barbed wire for the trenches and mad amunition that went aginst our own people.
Brits and Germans used Phosgene Gas, each claimed the other dit but not admitting it
I dont want to talk about WW II. We are branded !!!!! That means we are not allowed to complain about allied attrocities.
I hope Europe has learned and will stay peaceful. We dont have that peace as Jnr said. Think of yugoslavia in the last decade and it is still not over......that on our doorstep.
Peace to all i hope
The peace I'm refering to is the "peace" within the EU. Especially the former EU. With the new countries (Yogu is not part of it) in our surroundings, new problems submerge. Weapons, drugs, prostitution/slavery nuclear weapons!! ect ect. We must be happy about being GOOD freinds with countries we were at war with.
Jnr
We were at war with yugo in both WW
In fact the first WW started with Sarajewo, as you know the ex yugo states are joining the EU
Serbia will come as soon as they cooperate. But lots of hate there at the moment, remember our troups are actively involved there to keep peace. I hope that works out
Snr, I see you mention KRUPP in your earlier reply. My father in law told me once that the crematoriums supplied to the concentration camps were made by KRUPP Germany. Any truth in this?
Thats possible, all large firms were involved in that time
I dont think they had much chance to refuse in that time.
Do you think it's fair that these German companies should be held accountable for their actions during the war? Companies like VW and Deutsche Bank were recently sued by an association of Holocaust survivors for their part in the war.
Can't they just let bygones be bygones. Like you say, these companies didn't have the option to refuse in those days.
Some few years back a fond for survivers was created.
Many of those firms have contributed
To let that sleep would mean no more cash flow.
Look at Namibia consantly asking for reparation and that at times were Germany pays the highest development to NAM.
Let the soup boil and come up with demands again and again
Just wait, when the first claims come towards SA.
If one looks back in history, i could name a lot that classify for reparations
One of my sayings also is, find a point in time of history that suits you most for your argument.
That counts for many countries but it seems its only applied with Germany.

False, False, False and False again my clever friends. You are all wrong!
The animal with the strongest measured bite force is in fact the Nile Crocodile! ( 2,5 Tons! ) Imagine that clamping down on your leg. In comparison, the great white shark comes in at about 1,7 Tons and a human being features in the region of about 50 kg.
For interest sake, the South American Jaguar has the strongest bite force of the cat family.
Incidently, the strongest bite force of all actually belongs to the Tyranasaurus Rex at over 3 Tons. This was determined experimentally by measuring the depth of teeth marks found on dinosaur fossils.
Sorry Carl; but you are wrong - the strongest bite is SandyB as he sinks his teeth into his brothers arse
Oh Sandy, now its your turn LOL :yeah3: :culo1:

True or False.
Pigeons are used by the US coastguard to assist in sea rescues. The pigeons are placed in a transparent dome underneath the aircraft. When they spot a liferaft or lifejacket floating in the ocean, they start pecking frantically at the dome, thereby alerting the crew of the aircraft.
false............pidgeons used to carry messages
Sorry Chris, but this one is actually true. Pigeons have amazingly good eyesight, but very poor depth perception. This explains why they constantly fly into windows and break their necks.
When they spot a liferaft in the far distance they actually perceive it to be a morsel of food right in front of them, hence the frantic pecking at the glass dome.
:36_2_35: This one made me think of the joke about "f**ken duif"!
Havent heard that one yet Dalene. Please share with us
OK -
Jannie, a little retarded, goes to the Kruger Wildtuin with his parents. Car windows open on the drive, not taking notice of the warning signs, they stop at a water hole to view all the animals. Suddenly an ostrich comes from the side of the car, sticks it's head through the window and starts pecking furiously at Jannie. A few minutes later the ostrich stops the assualt and walks away as if nothing had happened. Blooded and snotty, Jannie sits in his seat, still not moving, just staring at the vicious bird, then suddenly he says: "F**ken duif!"
