It is with sadness that I advise James (Jimmy) Ockwell has passed away. My brother Richard Jonker attended Jimmy's funeral on 13 February 2008 (which also happened to be my 50th birthday). Jimmy had Motor Neurone disease. Regards, Melanie Jonker
I am sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing - was a friend of his sister Michelle in the 70s.
Debby and my thoughts are with you, your mom and sister - Michelle in this sad time.
Richard
IT is with great sadness that I heard of Jimmy's passing,
I had been trying to contact him for ages and this is the first time that I was aware that he suffered from Motor Neuron Disease, thanks for passing that on Melanie.
Michell if you are reading this, Jimmy was on my mind a lot in the weeks before his passing, thats why I asked you to get him to mail me.
Regards
Clive
Clive - you could probably email my brother Richard who is also a member of this forum. He kept in contact with Jimmy on and off over the years.

Clive, I think Adeana will be distressed when she learns of this. I'll email Aunty Doreen to find out if she knows. I'm sure she will as she kept up the links with all her crowd.
It is so sad. Jimmy was a role model for me in sporting terms. He was a brilliant swimmer and I always thought he'd go onto great thing in the world of swimming. He must have been mad as hell to lose out to Motor Neuron Disease.
Other news: Jenny (my sister) met up with Walden Davis.
Hi Robert,
Just thinking of Jimmy earlier brought tears to my eyes. I wrote a small not on another posting but do not know if it got posted as I am having problems with this connection at present.
Walden contacted me a while ago, I realy have to try and make an effort to see him.
I cried tears going throught the memorial site set up .. a big person full of life and so amny good memories ..
The very first photo in Jimmy's obituary is the Jimmy I knew. Always remember him as a swimmer, breast stroke if I'm not mistaken.Aileen and Michelle were friends of my time and he was their big brother,I did n't know him personally.
IT is with great sadness that I heard of Jimmy's passing. I knew Jimmy and the Ockwell family very well and for a long time and were good friends. I was not aware that he suffered from Motor Neuron Disease till I registered on the site. My sincere condolanses to Jimmy's family and loved ones. From Pepe and Family.
