Hi, I'm Melanie Jonker - Lucille's sister. The woman in the second photo is Lee McDonald (not Kym). Her husband's name was Stuart and their children were Ashley and Collette. They were our next door neighbours in 1st Avenue. They also had a huge Doberman called Battle which used to scare the kids in the neighbourhood.

I remember only too well the dog growling at me , he would run up to you and in most cases he was almost face height to a lot of us kids ... My dad tought me ,,, never look him in the eyes ,dont try and smile , walk  ever  so  slowly past him and dont run ,, but  yes it  was  always  hair raising having  this big dog doing  the  low  growling and  challenging  you ....

I have e-mailed Richard this site and when I rang him last week he said he had had a quick look but wasn't sure where to find things (not too 'puter savvy is our brother!)  Hopefully he will figure it out and start chatting because most people knew Richard as he was the eldest.  Thanks for correcting me Mel re:  Lee McDonald... I thought it sounded weird as I typed it.  By the way, I have the "Battle" scars from Battle..... a tiny scar on my stomach where he bit me as I tried to scale down the fence into their yard while he was "supposedly" asleep.

Scan 12  on the left looks like a Langford girl .. and on the right looks like Sonja Olckers  .. i have a recollection of her doing the "indian girl " for a fancy dress .. they applied fake tan that wnet all streaky on their legs ..

Yes Sandy not Jennifer Langford perhaps. The guy with Carol looks like Charlie Bardenhorst.

Here is Sonja when she and her Dad visited us many years later and stayed over at our house ... Uncle Bill's new wife had an uncany resemblance to Auntie Irene  , excepting she had red hair .. Auntie Irene had beautiful long blond hair the colour  beer , a sort of golden shade ..

Yes that's right about charles badenhorst. Now i remember. Befor you all know it, i can remember everything. Slowly but surely things are starting to come back. I suppose i never had any use for all these memories so they were tucked in far away. I'm glad they're coming back to me.
bye for now.

Hi Ineke,

Fantastic photographs from the newsletter of that time.

I think the Carol girl in photo 0011 is not a Carol but one of Gilbert Kermis sisters, who I think married a Vinton?

Other names:

Photograph 0006 – Francis and Tich Mc Lachlan – he worked with me for a while at 100G 4 Plant area in Oranjemund in 1976.
Photograph 0007 – Jennifer Wormse and your sister.
Photograph 0009 – Jan Rootman, ? and John Symes.

Keep on posting.
