AS A KID THE ONLY NUMBER TO REMEMBER WAS THE COMPUTER NUMBER 14109 YOU COULD DO NOTHING WITHOUT IT.........
Hi Goofy,
I can certainly remember that old computer number..... it was like gold.....the humble beginning of the modern day credit card methinks. Ours was 17213. Can you believe that, I have not thought about that number for near on 30 years, but it just came to me in a flash. If that's not an imprint on the brain, then I don't know what is. How's it hanging anyway, fellow O/munder? What are you up to these days? What about your brother Kenny?
Mmmmm, that's true! You could and still can't do anything without a computer number! My dad's 33081. Now I am old enough to have my own, but still can't seem to remember the damn thing! Have it saved on my cell...
You're right about the computer numbers being imprinted in your brain. I still remember my dad's computer number and he left Namdeb almost 20 years ago. As a kid growing up in Oranjemund it was just as important as remembering your home address and telephone number !! You needed it for everything.
Under the rules of the Geneva Convention, " I Will give you my rank and my computer number and I'll throw in a Po box for good luck! ;) "
15040 and 422
we will never forget them! hehehehe!
;D
Pity you can't remember your wife or kids' birthdays or their ages!
Computer Number and the company credit card, however only the credit card with the CDM details allowed me to purchase spares for my bakkie from Datsun in Cape Town at, if I remember correctly 40% discount, when I paid in cash the sales man wanted to know why the company was not being billed, had to explain it was for a private job.
I was at the hospital this morning collecting my "beautiful" drugs,
and you have to write down your computer No. and for the life of me I could not remember it, but lo and behold I remembered my Dad's from all those years ago, so I just wrote that down, nobody was the wiser!

And noboidy from the pharmacy will read what you just said in your post? :D :D
I would think about retracting the post! ;D
Gee! those drugs must be affecting my judgement!
They got their money from me as I am private and not a company man!

The one thing about them computer numbers is that your was always closely similiar to your dads . My fathers was 38385 and mine was 338389.
My father was 15040 and I am 115045.... ???
My moms was 30589 and my dads was 10510, I used to rotate them so that the deductions on there pay slips did'nt look so bad what a asset to have, unfortunately my mom used to work at the shoe dep and was good freinds with the staff at the sweety shop my name was black listed
Ja Mike, mines also close 315044.... Remember you could tell who had been in town the longest cos they all has really short numbers... 5 digits or less, these days some folk have 7 digits
I wonder where the hell my number came from ... 533459. When I started working at IT, I realised I had the highest number in town for a while!!!
Everybody except my mom had very similar numbers. My dad's was 33456. Um. Don't ask me what Mientjie and Denise's are, I just remember they were close, ok? ::)
Yes the famous computer # ... Mine was 16616 .. I uncovered these old dockets in one of my Mums memory boxes ...
I remember those dockets well as I used to check and file them. Here's some figures off Stephens pay slip in the first year we were married 1977.

His computer number was:15229
A ring for R12.47.....what kind of ring was it...what a bargain.....
Here in the roof at spar is a whole pile of old papers, I must lose some weight sometime and climb up there.....
;)
A ring for R 12,47 in 1973 .. my Mum had an amazing jewelry collection .. her hands were festooned with rings .. it was all good stuff .. all went to the nieces after moms passing ..
I remember your Mums rings
Your mom, Sandy was and is remembered for many things, rings being one of them, glasses, and hair another

Our parents must've worried everyday whether they would get a salary at the end of the month. My father's number was 13161, a number I'll never forget. Now unfortunately I have to use my own cards, and I keep it away from my kids.
will never forget my number - 33227 - I cut up my card the day I got paid -R10 in 1985. Thank goodness for my steakhouse salary to tide me over for the month. Was never going to get overseas if I carried on like that. On the printout of expenses "record dept, record dept, clothes dept, clothes dept, record dept...................." - entire salary spent on LP's and clothes. That card was evil..............
Evil cards, tell me about them - best rule is to only spend cash in hand.
My head is so full of numbers, that I am still battling to recall my dad and moms no. I can't even remember my pin number for my credit cards, but I reckon it's my way of not spending.
I think my dads number was something like 1357 I remember our ph number computer nu and box number where all very similar - confusing or what....
Wow... came accross this today... Cannot believe that I still remember my moms number: 12475...
Cannot remember our old phone number or postbox number but sheesh don't know why I remember her computer number ... Even after all these years ...lol She doesn't even remember her own number. ha ha
Wow, it's amazing how certain things stick in your mind! I remember my Dad's CDM number - 13870. It just popped into my head - after 30 years!
Sorry guys, am a bit older that you,but I remember our computer no.
