Title: Google search!
Post by: Michael Alexander on March 24, 2008, 10:02:00 AM
Ok, this might sound petty, but I used to always do a Google search for Oranjemund, just to see where on the search rankings we appeared... anyhow what happened normally, was that we would appear about 13 on the search list, today, I did a search and it came up at position one and two.... wow.... I think it should show up the same wherever in the world you are.... thanks to Robert Bruce, for helping to advertise on iscatterlings and on the mighty Wiki.....

just a small thing, but it means something to me....

Ha, ha....On having a look at Google, your closest competition seems to be Namdeb.
Now why would that be?

Had a look at Yahoo...seems to be about the same.
A lot of the sites listed are set up by professionals that know the advantage of making their sites "bot friendly".

Checking MSN and Hotbot, Wikipedia seems to beat us at the moment.
======
Anyway, this is all quite silly as we all know that Google is the only one that counts.

As far as I remember you were always on number 1 on google.de.
I always use >oranjemund forum< for the search.
My Oldman knows a way of making sure you stay up top. He did the same with his site. Probably the tags Kenny means.
Time to shut-up before everybody realises how little I know....  :emot19:

Yes, Bev, Robert Bruce's site is also a good memory... it is thanks to RObert in a way, that this sight gets so much hits, he took the initiative to pin the site on Wikipedia, thus exposing us to more "bots"

Georg, Thanks for that ... I must admit that I did not include tags on the site, I just wanted to get the site up at the time and have just run out of time so far.. I will get around to it one day, week, month, or year....

No no Diana, the Bot bar is enough for us. Keeps things together

Mike will have to answer your question about costs

I can only talk about the technical side of Homepages. What i posted is codes that you dont see. They are hidden in the start page and tell search enigines what to look for......

But if you wnat to see those codes , go to the main start page, press right mouse and open ....codes

I dont know the english name for it, in German it is Quellcode. " source code "

This is something i understand  I work for a company who do this. Add tags we put in keywords of what companies want to be found for and get there wbsites listed onto the first page of google.
Title: Re: Google search!

@ Barbara

Yes thats right, if you look up my codes in my homepage, you see all the things that are included.

The search engines will look at the tag and see if it appears in the site, to also look up the following pages , one needs the tag " follow index " If the keyword is not found in the HP, the search enigine will not log on to the pgae.

Lots of tricks and hints to be observed !!!!
