Title: Padre, Birthdays and Sunday School
Post by: Melanie Jonker on April 06, 2008, 04:25:24 AM
I remember Padre used to visit every child on their birthday. If I remember correctly he gave us about 5 cents. When I went to Sunday School I was given a book each Christmas. I've copied the front page of the two books I have that show the presentation sticker. One is dated 1965 so I'm assuming the other is probably 1966.

In all honesty... I never knew the Padre'... in due course.... I read plenty about this man...... In Caseys on a Sunday....... only to be lectured by the Dominee.... His reply..... "I need to spend time with my flock!"... this Oxford man, lies buried in the Graveyard at Oranjemund.......what struck me.... was how this man's grave was wider than most folk...... he must be a man after my heart...... a wide chap!

leaving perhaps a wide hole...... in Oranjemund!

I remember Padre as this very tall, teddy bear of a man who was just a real grandpa type and was always so kind to kids.
