Alfred, I'm not totally sure, but we used to call it Black Rob - that's the beach where the seals and sometimes the sea elephant come to breed.  Also near to it that big cave.

So long since I've been there  -  I remember the names of some of the bay's there, but not really sure.  Could it be Bakersbay or Pomona?

Hi Alfred, is the camera club still going in OM? I remember my dad used to be a member. They had this competition going in those days were every member had to submit one photo a month. The photos were then distributed to each member in turn for appraisal and criticism. The winner received a small gift from the club shop. Usually a roll of film or something similar.

I was also active in the Camera Club when Carls dad was there

Our slides were sent to CT. An expert there commented the slides and gave pionts.

Once a month, we showed the slides with the comments. I was projectionist and belonged to the commitee for a while. Good buddies in the club.

Spoke to Dieter Heiser on skype about those times. He run the shop a long time also his wife run it before him.

A highlight was a trip to Richtersveld, i would show you an old 8mm film from that, but you have no broadband, so forget it

Snr, do you perhaps know what happened to the Heiser's after OM? I was best buddies with Ebby's son Horst in OM. After Ebbie passed away Horst and his mother moved to Somerset West and that was the last contact I had.

Alfre

Your 5th photo (P100102) looks suspiciously like Chamies Bay looking southwards towards the headland thats there.
Your 6th photo is also familiar and looks like a small bay north of Chameis Bay - about 2 -3 kms.  I dont know what its called but recall that there were lots of rocks and cliffs.

I could be very wrong - my memory is not what it used to be (old age).

Cheers

Malcolm

Malcom jumped me on this one, Alfred, but that was my next guess -  Chamais Bay!

Damn  -  I will for sure have to bring those slides of my dad with to the reunion so we can sort through them and add comments etc.  Have said before that I don't know how to get those slides onto the computer, but you guys might help me do it.

You  get  sanners  that  can  scan  slides   and  negatives  , got one  such  at  home ...    ask  around somebody you  know  must  surely   have  one ...

Thanks Sandy, you just gave me an idea.  Might ask this one guy who owns the local Gazette if he has something like that.  He is also a very keen photographer, so I think for sure he will have one, or some other gadget that can do it.

Scanning slides

We had that subject before.....

Tip: Pending on the quality of the scanner, the results will vary tremendously

Use the highest resolution and save the first scan as a tiff File, later when edited you save as JPG

Have fun..... i have scanned thousends and was busy round the clock for ten days.

Too  true  Georg .. i did  some initially ..  used   default   settings  and  when  you  took  them up to size  it  was  all  squares   . i  got  dead  ordinary  HP  scanner  and  it seems  to  do  an  adequate  job  just slow ..   .. other  one  ..  the  slides   mus  be scrupulously  clean   as  every  bit of  dust  etc  shows  up  and makes  it fuzzy

Hi Alfred

Yes are right - it could be van Reenens Bay.  From what I can remember there were a few small rocky islands - almost outcrops sticking out of the water quite close to shore.  Does that sound like the place?

Damn. I would love to get back up that part of the coast again.

Cheers

Malcolm

Shadows on track..... he did the most amazing thing yesterday... we went down to the lagoon and took the paddleski with.... first time for my girls to use...Alan was also there...So I have a witness... As Shannon starts to paddle out... this puppy hops onto the paddleski and sits down behind her..she paddles all of 90metres to the other side with this puppy on the back...he never fell of once....  unbelievable...I'm hoping 2 go down 2morrow again, this time I;ll get a pic....

Hey Alf, this is almost like "skattejag" with that chick in the chopper and the couple back in the studio figuring out the clues and where the treasure is and she has to find it based on their directions. So where does the next mission take us to?

The next "skattejag" if you where to be on this island and looked back at land what place would you see?
Title: Re: Beautiful Photo's
Post by: Malcolm Bertoni on May 02, 2008, 02:37:57 AM
I thought at first that it might be an island off Angra-Juntas, but that is a bit too small and too flat I think.

Perhaps it could be Pomona Island off Elizabeth Bay.
Cant think of any other places.

I dont know. The more I try to remember the more confused I get- cant remember anything anymore.
