Mike ask Freddie Ahrends his mom used to run the cooldring factory, I've hot a number of the wooden crates they used to use to load up the cooldrink bottles
Clive , I spoke to Freddy in the store yesterday, when he goes down to his dad in Rieebeck Kasteel, then he will bring some pics back for me to put up on the main site....
What a pity looks like the old cooldrink factory building is going to become "African fried chicken"
African Fried Chicken has come to a bit of a standstill, I'm still looking for any pics of the cooldrink factory, Freddy keeps promising, but no cigar......
::)
I see someone in Cape Town is supposed to be starting up a WBC franchise ( Wood Braaied Chicken) Must be aimed at the townships
We had a dog called Socks that was the only dog allowed into the cooldrink factory. Socks used to pop in to the factory every morning, then lunchtime Mrs Arendse (our neighbour) would give Socks a lift home in the front seat of her Merc. On the way home Mrs Arendse would pick up her husband and he had to sit on the back seat.
Socks was also a member of the bowling club, actually socks was a bit of a legend.
Delia, didn't socks come out of your household?
He could've kenny, can't quite remember - our household was the destination point of all strays/give-away animals in o'mund. Anybody who had a dog/cat to give away, ask the Olivier's to take it in. At one stage, we had 11 cats and 4 dogs. Talking of dogs, one of the Wilson's (Julie, etc) dogs Coco made itself at home at our place after Fluffy (our dog, Coco's sister) went on heat. Anyway, Coco would sit on the fence next to the breadbin and wait for my mom to come home from work every day at 4.00pm - thought it was a cat. Amazing how animals are with timing.
Hi! I remember the name Freddy Ahrends, but I don,t remember his face. Did he live somewhere end of road coming from the store and passing the cine? I think the road he lived in lead you to OPS?!?
Cooldrink factorie. Great! We kids sometimes hungout there to get some free "iron-brew". We loved it. That was in the early 70s.
