It's the first time my girls are going to see the medierainen see. To me it'll be something like going to PE. My home before we moved to OM. Hopefully the weather ges more like PE. The forecast has been reporting rain and lower temeratures than here.

We're saying for 10 days.
You bet I'll be posting pics.
Maybe a clip or 2 as well.
You could camp if you wanted. But we're saying in a kind of container. I think about 60 square meers. 3 small bedrooms. Shower with wc. A kitchen with table and chairs. Jus enough for the 5 of us. What's imporant: Near to waer and sport facilities. Hope it's only half as good as the site makes believe...

How will you get there and how long will it take?

Refresh my memory - how old are your children?

It's about 1200km from here and we'll be travilling via Hyundai bus. 8 seats. So there's a bit of space.
The kids traveling with us are 17, 16 and 5 years old. There's plenty of animation for kids in all ages. So hopefully we'll have some time for us... ;)
@georgswa Thanks oldman. No, it's only near to Spain. I think about 50km. Perpignon is the closest proper town.

1200km's! Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Will you drive all the way in one day or sleep over?

At least your scenery will be more interesting than the scenery from here to C/T which we have seen so many times!

raveling in Europe can be boring too. aking the highway means you may be passing cities, cities....
We're travelling in one go taking urns at driving. It's probasbly the best way. We did that in SA in the old days to. PE, Joburg or Windhoek.

Like you say - at least with the bus there is a bit of space. My girls would love for us to get a kombi/bus so that they can each have their own row of seats when travelling!

Mike does all the driving when we go on leave - he says it is better if he is behind the wheel. Doesn't say much for my driving hey!

lol.
Space? Forget it. The more space you have, you more laguage want's to travel with you. lol
I know that's typical in SA. Women are very emancipated here. My wife and I always share driving no matter where we go. That's no problem to me.
We saw a report about German Emigrants near Sellenbosh on TV recenly. The woman said, tha people were very surprised, that she would drive the car wih her husband nex o her. hat's life. Every counry has it's ways.

True as you say - each country has it's ways.

My mom doesn't drive at all, she lived in England - where she used public transport - and then moved to Oranjemund - where she can walk everywhere. She also knows that I will drive her anywhere she needs to go to as my dad works on the mine.

Give me a chance - I was replying to other topics before I got to this one!

Thank-you for the offer of letting me drive but perhaps I'd better apply for the waitressing job if you want me to come and visit - it would be a lot cheaper for you guys to come to O'mund! Just think - revisiting old haunts!

I keep telling Mike he can go - I'm too attached to Spar, get withdrawal symptoms if I'm away for longer than a week!

He loves the car so I'm sure an aeroplane ride will be fine. Maybe we could offer his services as a sniffer dog at the airport and then get discount on the flight tickets!

Never mind being able to afford an overseas holiday - after having spent most of the evening online I'm wondering how I'm going to afford the telephone bill at the end of the month!

Time for me to go and say goodnight to the girls nextdoor so I'm going to say goodnight to all of you and thanks for a great evening!

Same time, same place tomorrow evening! As long as Mike lets me in front of the pc ever again!
