Title: Man wants to spare family the shame......
Post by: Rhona on May 14, 2008, 05:35:09 PM
Just caught my attention in the news - A man has just killed 5 members of his family with an axe - he said he owed a lot of money and wanted to spare his family the shame!!!

Anyone else hear that one?

Its actually  very much like the " south African Failed male syndrome '  lots of cases ..  stern  calvinistic upbringing or pressure of community or church  .. cowboys dont cry etc etc .. when the paw paw hits the fan ie  failure  or shame .. they take out he budgie  , cat ,  dog , maid ( if she was  a bit on the side )  then the  kids , the wife and then themselves ..  instead of just accepting the fall  , the consequences and  accepting  their  responsibilty in the whole mess try to make amends , carry themselves with the last vestiges of pride and say " so I messed up .. I am  only human ?? "Its  indeed sad when  the   thought  of   what other  people   may think takes   some good ordinary folk to those extremes ..  I  can  understand  tragedy  or loss  causing  people  to  lose their will to  live  generally  they  go  out quietly on  their own  .. we  see  and hear  enough cases of that .. but to  take out people  that  actually  had  nothing to do with your own actions that brought on the mess ??  my  mind boggles ..
The other sad one  is  the  amount  of  family  killings amongst our police force  from  burnout  and  stress  .. again different  circumstances  , but if  they  at least  reached  out  for help  things could be different .. my  pounds worth ..

We all mess up - that is the whole part of 'pick yourself up; dust yourself down; hold your head up high and start again' and from all these 'mess-ups' we learn and we become stronger........while going through bad times - no matter how trivial to others; to us it is the worst in the world and people who sneer and point the finger at other peoples misshaps aren't worth bothering about, of course - easier said than done.

My 2 cent worth - while people are talking about you; they are giving some-one else a break.........and hey! you must be something special that they noticed you in the first place....

Rhona .. your  words  are  More than 2 cents worth .. yes adversity makes us strong .. me a firm believer in the dust yourelf off , hold your head up high and start again thing ..  easier said than done yes  but at least worth the try .. again .. nothing  ventured nothing gained ..  I  kNew there  was  something  where a few of  us  could  make  a meaningful  contribution by opinion .. Club Duvet definitely now .. GNIGHT

Makes for a good doctoral thesis, this Austrian violent streak. Don't forget, Hitler was also an Austrian, and we all know about his famous killing spree.

i love austria........but on my visit there it was pointed out you never saw any disabled people and we were told they were all locked away in assylums and such places.......dont know if thats true......and also a member of out tour was a really really over wieght young girl.......and i was sickned by the people how they would laugh, point at her ....talk about her and not even try to hide their disgust at how she looked....it put me off austria.....but i would love to go again....its a beautiful country.......

Sorry Chris, I meant infamous. I sometimes type quicker than I think. Do you have DSTV? There's a good documentary on History channel at the moment which deals with the memoirs of Adolf Eichman. After his capture by Mossad, he wrote his memoirs in prison during the period of his trial. It's sometimes interesting to see how these people's minds tick.

I think that some of the things that go on in Africa, make the Nazi's look like a picnic... just my 2 cents....

I agree. And what about the Russians when they swept across Europe at the end of WW2. The history books conveniently forgot that part.
