Title: SOUTH AFRICA DRIVERS LICENCE
Post by: DUNJA WRBKA on May 21, 2008, 02:06:00 PM
 madashell

I went to renew my credit card licence on the 21st January because it was expiring on the 31st January.  After sitting there the entire day waiting to have my eyes tested, finger prints taken.  (of course everything has a cue, which is out the door halfway down the road.  So you can imagine how excited I was when I received notification in the post yesterday to collect my licence at Waltloo testing station.  I rushed out there this afternoon only to discover that I had in the meantime had a sex change and have joined the tribes.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh I cannot tell you how frustrated I am currently feeling and there is absolutely NOTHING that one can do.  I now need to just wait another 5 weeks until they can issue me with another licence.  What do I do in the meantime I ask?  The answer I got was to fork out another R80 odd to get a temporary licence.  "NOT OVER MY DEAD BODY WILL I GIVE THE CITY OF TSHWANE ANYMORE MONEY TO PAY FOR THEIR C%$CK UPS!"

Dunja, what's even scarier is that your drivers licence may be somewhere out there already

When Greg and I got remarried we popped into the local magistrate in Heidelberg to arrange a time and date, the chap checked our ID books and this is what we discovered......Greg was still married to me and his second marriage and divorce was never registered.  Thank goodness I still had the divorce papers...rushed home handed them over and the chap promptly divorced Greg and I and then two day later remarried us

What I don't get is - how come driver's licenses can be done so efficiently and home affairs just screw up with IDs and passports - one would think they'd ask for help and advice!

I was helping my mother sort out her paperwork a while ago, when her birth certificate came up. All done in that fancy old style German handwriting with the matching swastika and eagle stamp featuring predominantly at the bottom. Somehow it just put everything into perspective for me, the hardships and daily struggle that my parents and grandparents had gone through all those years under Nazi rule, and the years that followed after the war.

I gave her a big hug and told her again how much we love and appreciate her.
