Idea of the new game:

- New post allowed as soon as the old quest has been answered properly.
- You can take any kind of famous person. Science, relegion, politics ect...
- If particapents are having a hard time you can give a hint.
Who found out, that blood circulates through veins and archeries?
Georg, I'll take a swing at it!
I know Galen (Greek physician) believed blood moved in the body like the ocean tides.
How about the English physician William Harvey? I know he did experiments and proved that blood "circulates" in a closed system of tubes in the 1620's.
Well done Bertie. Thought you would know that one.
Beginner's luck! Do you have another one, or should I think of one?
Feel free to post one yourself, but here's another one from me.
Who was the x-ray telescope, that surches "dead" stars, the USA sent to orbit 1999 named after?
It's a bit unfair for me to keep on answering, so I'll leave this one for someone else. Unfortunately you asked 2 questions in fields I enjoy. I'm a regular on the NASA website, and I keep track of the ISS - check it out a lot of evenings as it speeds over us. I'll answer if you ask me.
So you know the answer Bertie??
Can I phone a friend?
Yes, phone me, Rhona!!!!
Whoo! Hoo! I have a friend.............what's your number Bertie - whisper it...
@ Rhona - Did you hear my whisper?
:emot19_2:
''Hiya Bertie - can you whisper the answer to this question please - Who was the x-ray telescope, that surches "dead" stars, the USA sent to orbit 1999 named after?''
I think if you print the answer in pink - no one can read the post only us two.......
@ Rhona - Let's hope they don't see this!!! The Chandra telescope was named after the Nobel prize winner/astrophysicist Chandrasekhar. Now you post it quickly before the others see it!!!
@ Jnr - I think the answer to your question is...................The Chandra telescope was named after the Nobel prize winner/astrophysicist Chandrasekhar.
Thanks Bertie - and trust me no-one else can see the message when written in pink............I wouldn't lie to you
Ok, you guys, here's a new one. I'm logging off for the day. Take it easy in the bar tonite!
Who invented Cornflake breakfast?
Would that be Mr. John Kellogs by any chance?
I do believe you'r right Rhona. Next question, what was his occupation?
I'm so glad you asked me that question Carl - I believe he was making Corn Krispies one day when his lovely wife Mary Kellogs came in and thumped the kitchen table flattening out the Krispies and hence the Cornflake was invented.........Oooops! but you didn't ask me that question...........his occupation was to torture young children by making them eat breakfast before they went to school - quite a genius in his own right as he marketed the whole thing on breaking the nightly fast and so making it the most important meal of the day..........
For those of you wondring why Mary thumped the table - it was because she was sick amd tired of picking up Johns socks!!!

John Harvey Kellogg
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Harvey Kellogg (February 26, 1852 – December 14, 1943) was an American medical doctor in Battle Creek, Michigan, who ran a sanitarium using holistic methods, with a particular focus on nutrition, enemas, and exercise. Kellogg was an advocate of vegetarianism and is best known for the invention of the corn flakes breakfast cereal with his brother, Will Keith Kellogg.
No way!!! I was completely and utterly teasing................sure everyone knows that John & Mary X; Y; Z invented everything............Uhm! I mean, yeah I knew that.... :emot26:

No way!!! I was completely and utterly teasing................
I know, I know. There was a proggie on the ol telly this morning showing how cornflakes were made, and they mentioned our friend Dr Kellog. Apparently he was somewhat of a nutter, as well as a religious fanatic. He fell into disrepute when he started preaching sexual abstinence and chemical circumcision of young girls by means of pouring carbolic acid onto their genitals. Furthermore he preached that male circumcisions should be carried out without anaesthetic. What a nutcase.
Ouch!!!
You can say that again. His reasoning was that the more pain behind the procedure, the less the poor victim would think about sex afterwards.
Guess Who?
Who was the founder and first leader of the Illuminati?
Dammit - was it one of the Popes?
Or even Mr. Kellogs?
Nope.
Adam Weishaupt?
Wait! Wait! was it John Illuminati?
@ Georg - I think you are correct with Adam Weishaupt! The quizmaster Carl fell asleep. Regarding the telescope one - it was on the tip of my tongue and I just couldn't get it! Rhona was too quick for me!
@ Rhona - Well done, thanks for putting me out of my misery!
@ Carl - Was there really a program on tv about sir Kellogg and his socks, sex and stupid ideas? Didn't see it - coincidence!
Bertie I'm so sorry Rhona was faster. But you know why.... :emot19:
:tifo1: :tifo1: :tifo1: :tifo1:
@ Georg - The hare and the tortoise comes to mind.

Adam Weishaupt?
Hey Carl... ???
:emot112_2: Well done jnr. It was indeed Adam Weisshaupt.
@Bertie - Yesterday on Discovery Channel. The program was called "How it's made". The rest came from Wikipaedia.
OK who'se next?
Here's one for the boys. Things we played with when we were small.
Guess who? Invented "Meccano", "Dinky Toys" and "****** Model Railways". I'm blocking out one name, because that would give it away, for this specific range has his name!
I had two of the three as a kid. The third one I got to play with at my good friend in primary school - Ian van Wyk, who lived in E2/11.
Mr. Maerklin perhaps?
Sorry Georg, not the one I wanted, but excellent guess! He did in fact also have excellent trains and a mechanical toy set similar to Meccano. Try again!
:emot112_2:
Okay, no German. A Brit named Frank Hornby.
And the Hornby Model Railways
bravo
Yup! Well done! You're right, Georg.
Ok, this is getting too easy. From now on, NO GOOGLE!
What is google Carl?
idontknow
Google Schmoogle - who is cheating??? :emot112:
Hi Rhona. Google? Cheatin? Is it a pill that helps you remember better? Or does it even help you know more than others?
No pills or potions Jnr - just a good memory; that and I'm a female and any of ye married men out there surely know that a lady never forgets!!!
