Anyone remember the social events at the Yacht Club? I spent many a weekend there in a tiny bikini ... oh to have that figure now!!
Did'nt they also host a carribean nite there also, with the floating dance floor in the yacht basin, similar to the diving club pool?
???
Hosted many parties, the best one I remember was when there were three sheep roasted over a spit. We were dressed as cavemen, which club had the party I've no Idea
i remember a medieval evening the diving club had at the yacht club - mid 80's - they had stocks and all for those the "king" deemed "unworthy"- us women (wenches) had to do our "sire's" bidding throughout the evening - if our partner wanted salt we had to approach the "king" at the head of the table, bow down before him saying "please sire, my squire requires some salt" - whether you got it was another story and you then had to relay the bad news back to your "squire" that he couldn't have salt. it was a scream. no knives and forks on the table and the evening ended up in a major food fight. really magic night. anybody out there remember this party?
As a kid i spent many a happy day wondetring around the pink pan and exploring the dunes etc around it.....My old man was a keen sailor and very involved and it was fun to meet up with all your mates on a ssaturday or sunday and while the folks sailed we waded around the entrance of the pan in front of the yacht club....
xmas there was always amazing....santa clause arriving on a speed boat[my uncle ian gavin---jason and shane gavins dad] and then one year we had a brilliant treasure hunt for the kids and all the adults were dressed the part[secretley i think they had more fun and did it for themselves].....but my old man was peter pan and a host of characters were scattered around the dunes etc of the yacht club.....brilliant times.......
also the powder bombing of the incoming or out going commodore was brilliant!!!
