Well here's a snap in the 60's I would imagine the early stage of the 60's..... of the community hall, which later became the Youth CLub. Notice the height of the tree's next to the Building....those tree's today are at least 6 metres above the height of the building...
... and the youth club is across the road from Coras cafe`(okay, I know she's not there anymore), swimming-pool and library???e forgotten.
who remembers the animals in cages in the childrens park,i used to love seeing all the brightly coloured budgies
I do...I do... there's a topic called Mini Zoo somewhere on here Bobby.
diana do you remember at the opposite side of the park, where the cubs and brownies club was, there stood a big wired meshed drum with a handle on it .the ovamboes used to shovel sand in it and turn the handle to seive the sans to put on the park grass, weird what one remembers hey.if you went out of that entrance it would bring you to the post office if i recall
Oh yes I do.....you know a lot of the things brought up here I'd forgotten about, only when I read these things do the memories come rushing back.
I remember that court yard too. Not too sure about the drum though. There was a large tree with larger thorns just outside the Guide hall.
and yet another..... I am having a blast scanning all these images...
As far as I remember, the trees up front were realy high in the 70s. Do they still exist today?
Nope the front trees went sometime in the early 80's to make room for a bustop and then they just cemented the whole thing over...
What a pity. Wasn't the busstop to the left of the hall?
A few years late, but yes, Jnr, you are correct, the bus stop was to the left of the Community/Youth Club Hall....
