Those dunes .. I recall when i was into  art and my  muses were working overtime .. a talent that sprung  up and  then disapeared within a short time .. I painted a pic and those dunes in the background i made a blueish green to  make them  look like  the rolling hills in the  highlands .. dont ask  how that hapened . but my mom said thats exactly what they  looked like .. ( in the middle of the desert ?? )  I reacll from that period  of  artistic  actvity  the one picture i did  of a harbour scene looking down from a hill  .. It was traded for a type writer  .. an ancient Underwood .. the recipient of that pic was Ann  Davis .. she like  the picture  so did trade ...  Oh goodness why arent more of the folk  from then on this site ??

Sandy, my sentiments exactly, my mother in law received an email from CHrissie WIese who attended the recent CDM pensioners get together, she rattled off a whole host of names,,, and all I could think about was the stories we are gonna lose...all because they are not pc literate.....

maybe I should go to some of them  .. feed them drinks and  pull memories .??  Auntie Ena bennet  still goes to some of the Cape ones ..  maybe i should .. take  Diana with  . we  would  make  a formidable team of   interrogators ..

Yup  .got so many  half complete stories rattling around in me head .. and need  to tie up the loose ends .. Nan Morrow wants to come back to my home  after we  held the  get together here after Flo's  memorial service .. I should persuade her to pick up  Ena as well ...  lets   see . ???

Is 7th Ave. the road along south side of the store?
Did this park exist in the 70s? Can't remember it.

I remember the parks with fondness. The Parks here in Tasmania , do not have play grounds in many of them. It is sad. Seems they took them down so the kids would not hurt themseves.

Here in Australia if you trip over a twig you can sue the government, local MP, shire council, mayor and even the park attendant for a billion dollars.

A slight exaggeration, but its gotten that bad. Even charity events such as fun runs have to be covered for indemnity insurance that is so expensive that the organisers have to cancel the event.  Anything that requires moving a big toe is now off limits.

It seems that parents are no longer accountable for their own kids.

Bev, the park you are referring to, is the park opposite the mine store, on the road to the mine... still there, just missing most of the play equipment.....
