Title: Bakers Bay!
Post by: Michael Alexander on June 15, 2008, 10:55:42 AM
Found these 4 pics with the following notes...

"1)  A prospecting programme is under way at Bakers Bay by systematically drilling 1 metre holes between the sea line and the rocky outcrop about 2km inland.

2) The ground from the drilled holes is fed into the plant by means of water jetting.

3) Part of the Bakers Bay Village

4) With the plant in the background

5) The small plant has a throughput of ? many tons.

6) Scottish born fitter, Eric Cameron is the plant fitter. Here he is repairing a pump casing."

Mike I have pics somewhere at home with the construction guys. I will try and find them and post them. This was in 1976 if I have my bearings right as had just qualified as a sparky LOL. The contractor's name was Arthur, that's all I can remember. Hope this helps.

No, the Construction Company was Greonewalds Construction and their site foreman was Arthur and boilermaker/fitter was Tobie.

Mike, here are a few pics of the mess we had at Bakers Bay during the construction days. Will search for the actual site construction pics and the power station we had there. Now you can see where our priority was in our stomachs LOL. Food was excellent there.

LOL Mike, yeah you right. They really felt important if they had some sort of authority and needed to show it. But he was cool as listened to us if we wanted a braai etc. We could set our own menus eventually. Don't forget the beer, good old Windhoek Export!!!!
