@ Mike - Ja OK, congratulations on your Cheetahs team winning (scraping through).  We WP ouens don't mind. We let the Sharks win at home, shame.  When you go visit somebody, you behave and dont break their toys.  We always start tournaments slowly, but end with a bang.  No seriously, I liked what I saw, province hasn't played bad at all.  The game could have gone any way, with WP leading for the first 70 minutes of the game.
I don't know what AJ Venter did in the WP team, there's one guy I don't like.
Early times in the competition, we'll talk again.

No comment on the Cheetahs game, Mike?  Siestog.

Nah - wasn't good enough to be called a game - terrible display of swimming, mudwrestling and ping-pong kicking.

Oh, but did I mention - WP beat the Cheetahs?  After all, both teams played in the same weather on the same field!

WP's biggest problem now is that Rassie is an indiscriminate, compulsive buyer.
He wants to "buy" everything right.
It will take the WeerProbeer a loooong time to get the "mercenaries" to gel.

Don't get me wrong - Rassie is by far the best tactician but I have doubts about his coaching abilities and his ability to get the best out of each respective player.

I hope that fate can lend a hand an upset the cart..... all those pundits reckon that we are useless without a few players...no depth they say..... Well I hope we cause the upset of the season.....I want to post here ...how great the Awesome CHeetahs are...

SHARKS vs CHEETAHS, DURBAN, SATURDAY 17.05

The Sharks are picking up momentum at a crucial stage while the Absa Currie Cup champs have suffered something of a slump in form. Juan Smith, Hendro Scholtz and Duane Vermeulen comprise a powerful back row, and the fetching abilities of Heinrich Brussow will be magnified in the final quarter. The scrums should be fairly even as well as the lineouts, but the Sharks have a distinct advantage in their backline. The kicking game of Ruan Pienaar and Stefan Terblanche will come to the fore and there will be nowhere for Cheetahs wingers Kabamba Floors and Eddie Fredericks to hide. The Bulls forwards were competitive last weekend but were undone through the failings of their backline, and the same fate could befall Free State in the Shark Tank.

Prediction: Sharks by 10.

What a sham! what kinda team is the weeeepeeee...crying like baby's...can;t get the points by winning games,....so they gotta get SARU to take us to court so that they can give our four points to weeeeepeeeeee......... All because one of our players played in a B league game on friday night and then an A game on Saturday...

"Johannesburg - Western Province's official complaint to the SA Rugby Union (Saru) that points be docked from the Free State Cheetahs for fielding a player contrary to the Currie Cup regulations could falter on the official confirmation the Free State side had received from Saru.
WP's complaint stems from the Cheetahs' use of utility back Hennie Daniller who played for the Cheetahs against the Falcons on Friday night and then represented the Griffons team that beat the SWD Eagles the following day. The Eagles have also lodged a complaint.
The two unions contend this is an abuse of the loan system in which Currie Cup (Premier Division) teams can make available players to First Division sides, and WP have requested the Cheetahs be docked the five match points from the Falcons match, while the Eagles have requested the same from their lost match to the Griffons.
Both the complainants will benefit hugely, with WP then much closer to a Currie Cup semi-final and the Eagles assured of a berth for the promotion/relegation play-off later this month.
However, the Cheetahs on July 3 received confirmation from Saru that players may indeed move between the two divisions which are in fact two different competitions. However, where a player is "loaned" by a Premier Division union from another Premier Division union, he will not be allowed back to his original side.
It is it is the frequency with which players are allowed to move between these teams that is being questioned by the WP and Eagles - but the Cheetahs contend that this has happened only on this one occasion which they feel can hardly be termed "frequently" or an abuse of the system.
In fact, Daniller was on the bench in the very first Premier Division Currie Cup match the Cheetahs played against their neighbours Griquas on June 20 - and didn't even take the field, according to SA Rugby's website records.
The complaint by WP seems to be in retribution for the insistence by the Free State side that the WP match against the Cavaliers last Saturday could not be moved to Newlands and that the correct protocol and adherence to regulations should be followed. That resulted in the game being played in the Wellington mud bath and as a result WP failed to get a much needed bonus point, which would have given them an edge in the play-off race. However, the Cheetahs point out that all the other teams in the Premier Division had to play at Boland Park in Wellington - some of them in even worse conditions than WP had to contend with.
As things now stand, WP have to beat the Lions by 19 points or more at Newlands, earn a bonus point and prevent the Lions from getting one. Should their complaint be upheld by Saru and the Cheetahs be docked five log points, WP will need only one bonus point from their final league match against the Lions on Saturday to advance at the expense of the Cheetahs.
The Cheetahs now have 37 log points which would be cut to 32 if the complaint is upheld, but could get back to 37 against the Cavaliers in Bloemfontein on Saturday. WP, now on 36, will also move to 37 if they get the bonus point referred to above and will have a much better points differential if the Cheetah's 71-point win over the Falcons is disallowed.
The Eagles and Griffons have been locked in a battle for a top-two finish in the First Division, which carries with it the chance to play in a promotion/relegation series to advance to the Currie Cup Premier Division next year. If the Griffons are docked points, the Eagles will advance to the promotion/relegation series.
Saru Chief Executive Johan Prinsloo has confirmed to www.rugby365.com that the matter was receiving "urgent" attention. Saru expect a response from the Cheetahs on Wednesday after which a ruling will be made."

I quote Naka

""We did our homework at the beginning of this season, so we are not worried at the moment," he said. "We had an agreement at the start of the year that allowed us to loan players to the Griffons and use them when we needed them. I have an email from Christo Ferreira [Saru's legal representative], so we have the agreement on paper"

Well...I am up early today..... butterflies abound in my stomach........ It's a super saturday........ two massive semi finals for the currie cup rugby......... I remember the last 4 semi finals as a drunken haze with my team reaching the finals.....  I am hoping, with all of my orange heart....... that today, we can once again prove the "experts" wrong .... and beat those igmoramus bulllybluebulls on their home turf at Loftus Versveld....and secretly I guess I also hope the Lions take out the sardines at the Sharktank today...... no matter what the outcome..... it's gonna be tense and awesoem,,, GOOD LUCK CHEETAHS!

@ Andrewette - Are you sure it's BLUE I'm to be shouting for; never shouted for blue in my life - maybe I should stick to ORANGE as that is quite close to my reds..........  image041

I guess I'm the only BULL supporter on this forum?  So I'll rather not be a big mouth about Saturday's finals!  :ciupa1:

Think its going to be a tough game, biting my naels already!

Oh well, whatever the outcome, we'll either drink to victory or drowning our sorrows!!  image 11

I will say nothing about this final  -  still under treatment for depression after my team lost their "spot"!

But....   I know that the statue of the bull on loftus is not a bull  -  it is actually a tollie.

I also know that a bull that is blue has a serious illness and urgently needs a vet.

So, I said nothing about the final....

Congratulations to the Sharkies and their supporters!

Like you say, Mike  -  the B team of the Cheetah's  and I am also very glad for Heinrichs part that he was chosen for the Bok team.
