Remember this memorial, which is bow at the museum, but used to be at the beach....
Now thats one ! I recall looking at it as a child . but for the love of me cannot remember where it was located ..
Just above the lagoon on the ridge by the current parking lot at the river mouth....
I remeber another one near the mouth on the beach.
I think from German times, a swimmer that drowned
@ Georg Snr - Yes, if I'm correct, this memorial stone is now at the museum? Here is photo of that specific stone when it was still at the mouth.
Hope I'm not going off the subject, but in that same area, not far from the Eberlanz memorial at the end of the road towards the mouth, there was this wooden structure. Can anybody tell me what it was for? Hey, and don't you dare laugh at my clothes - I was only about 5 years old! thumper
Yes Bertie, thats the one i remember, great having that photo
Eberlanz, there is a house in Lüderitz with that Name, got it on film only, but you can not watch it yet, get that broadband soon !!!!
Wow..interesting photo... I never heard of that..... what happened to it? WHat year was this?
@ Mike - Talking about the wooden structure? Must be 1970-72.
Good memories .. thanks ..
Hi Bertie
I found the base of the mowe monument today, never had my camera with me, it is about 4 m above the lagoon, and about 15 m north west of the carpark at the rivermouth, will take my camera with next time.....
Yes Mike I remeber both memorial's and the wooden look-out, I remeber when the sea topled it over the wooden legs protruded out of the sand, lekker to sit on and let the waves pass by under you. Watched my dad run back not to get wet and I would sit high and dry with a big smile on my dail
