I think they've just come from lunch. Andy is the chef and feels guilty. Jack is telling him off for having burnt he meat leaving the core row.

Jack Mc Bride was the foreman in charge od the Engine overhall workshop, which was behind the town magazine and the hostel, befor it was moved to the central workshops at Ubvlei.
