Title: KFC....
Post by: Dalene Steenkamp (Coetzee) on July 02, 2008, 06:48:04 PM
I have never liked KFC  -  not the hamburgers, not the chicken, not the fries  -  just tastes yukky.

Today, in my own stupidity, I let a college talk me into buying a twister  -  an avo and feta twister to be precise!  After waiting in a que for half an hour, we finalle get to give the order.  Another half hour later this funny rolled up thing that looks like a Chrismas cracker is given to me  -  friggen stone cold!  Get to the car -  open my cracker ... plop lands half the diced tomatoes, lettice and watery mayonaise on my lap.  Now I get a good look at it:  rolled up half baked piece of dough, supposed to be filled with feta and avo, but all I can see is a tiny stone hard chicken strip sticking out between tomato and lettuce.  I start to eat  -  hooray -  I actually found a piece of feta after I have eaten half the bloody thing, and then another dried out fried chicken strip.  I finished it, cause 1 hour in a que and R26-90 less in my purse can't be chucked away just like that.

My opinion:  tasteless -  no seasoning what so ever - not even some salt!  It's not what it says  - still looking for the avo.

I don't like KFC  -  for that matter, I don't like any type of fast food (never know when it's roadkill they use for making patties) -  and after today I will have to be very very very hungry and find nothing else to eat, before I ever buy KFC again.  Much more for you guys to eat who like it  -  enjoy, 'cos I don't.

Can anyone post a rennie for me, please?

 notfair

I would have taken it back into KFC and taken the whole Cracker apart and asked where the avo was then forced them to eat it after I had filled it with Tabasco sauce.

Would have taken me another half hour to give it back to them.

Only solution -  stay away from the fast food places!  I agree, Cheryl  -  rather make a nice samy and know what I put on it.  I actually hardly ever buy fast food  -  maybe twice a year, if it is that much.  I rather buy some bread, butter, ham, cheese etc and make myself something to eat in the kitchen at work when I'm hungry, or sometimes I will go out to a nice restaurant.  I skip all the KFC's, Whimpy's, Steers and the whole other bunch  -  today just confirmed to me why I do it.

Thank's Bobby,  I await all them things that goes FUZZZZZZZZZZZ  in a glass, then makes you go  BURRRRRRRRRRRRP

(Where did you get that blue birdy  -  it ain't here anymore!  The admins are playing again.....)

We just come back from an italian restaurant

What a carry on.....

We ordered fried fish " Dorade" with Rosmarine Potatoes

After very long waiting, the fish arrived with green beans and spinach ( i hate spinach)

The fish was raw inside and ice cold,

took the waiter, he looked at it and said no thats no good

Then cam the chef , looked and disappeared

Waiter comes again and takes the plates saying new plate will come

I say just the fish and beans leave the rest

We wait for 3/4 hr, new plate arrives, fish on the outside crispy, inside still partly raw

As the waiter came by, took look he says he will send the chef again, we said no, enough, we will eat the cooked portion and leave the rest

The Bill was charged in full, not eaven the espresso was on the house. The waiter apoligized and we said never again !!!!!!

That has never happened to me with italian food

So i agree with you all, best is to eat at home

We call  KFC  .. Unlucky Fried Kitten .. we used to get it as treat  for factory  staff  ... quality has  just gone down over the years .. story is they  buy up all the  worn out battery hens .. hence the meat having this yellowy fat beneath  what is still a delicious crust ..  but  dont hide crap  underneath that nice crust .. its an insult  ..   we now get Steer Burgers   . of all  fast food outlets their patties still taste meaty  unlike some .. they taste like sawdust  mixed with OxO ..  and of course   food form you own kitchen .. or yes a good  restaurant ..
@ Georg I see yu too had a bad eating out experience ..  we all have it every now and again .. just never go back ..

Next time you go back there, and the same guy is still in the kitchen, you must order

Chef Flambe   ............  fry the bugger that buggers up your food and dares to call himself a chef!

That's another thing that can get me hot under the collar:  good restaurants who propagate that they have these cousine/alacarte/pro/whatever!  chef's in the kitchen, but in the meantime it's just the neighbours son who was looking for a job!  I have been to Italian restaurants where the chef does not even understand the basic thing about pasta been cooked to aldente -  comes out still half cooked or you might as well just have ordered something similar to mieliepap!

Ah Dalene .. you   giving my experience of adesso in rondebosch .. pasta indifferent and sauce .. bland ... Uugh !

He he Dalene, that is right

I saked the waiter about scallopina milanese, he said sorry never heard of he will ask the chef

I said forget it, he want know neither

Well as i said, he does not know it LOL

Cooking Spaghetti depends what brand you use, i only take the type " Grano duro " cook that 9-10 minute, always perfect al dente, i hate those soggy overkooked noodles like grandma used to cook LOL

Salt & olive oil in the boiling water.  Right after it's cooked and drained, also pour some olive oil over and stir lightly throug  -  it prevents the pasta from sticking.

Al Dente .. to the tooth .. firm .. I watch my pasta like a hawk .. and always look for good quality .. fattis and Monis is  shyt .. not enough gluten .. falls apart ..  and yes Georg grana duro ..  but even the we get fobbed off with poor  quality imported  shyt at times as well ...  obviously not good enough for their market so they dump it .. Yes Dalene as TV chef  Nigella says .. the water should be as  salty as the Mediterranean .. oil in the water . drain  rinse and slather with Olive oil ...
