Title: Hi! I'm new...
Post by: Andrewette (Theron) on July 23, 2008, 07:17:34 PM
Hi everyone, I've just discovered this site!  Awesome stuff!
Ek's 'n gebore Oranjemunder en was my hele laerskool loopbaan by OPS.  Barnato natuurlik!! Ek het my geboortedorp in 1980 verlaat, maar dink nog met baie heimwee en nostalgie terug aan die plek...
Nou ja, dit was 'n kort "introduction", ek het baie leeswerk om in te haal!!
Cheers!

Hey, thanx for the words of welcome!  So Afrikaans is forbidden? Was wondering were all the Afrikaans speaking people are...   sorriso2

Okay, I'll try, but Kenny, changes are that your afrikaans is better than my english!!

I've been busy today, digging up all those old "kiekies".  Was quite an efford!  Now I must just find the right place to post them (I'm new, remember).  Try to find them if you can.. hiehie

Cheers

Ag, vreeslik dankie! Op hierdie stadium praat ek meer Afrikaans gedurende die dag as wat ek Engels praat! Om te skryf is 'n ander storie so I'm going to switch back to English - it takes much less thought! I love the Afrikaans language and find their expressions often a lot more applicable than English ones, sometimes I really battle if I'm telling my mom a story to find a suitable English word!

Addictive is the best description, you find you just have to log on to see what has been said and who is online. As I've said  in previous posts our telephone account has doubled in the last year but at least it is a form of entertainment!

(Don't tell Mike but we've even got our own free bar online as well - check out the topic Bot Squad - it's where we hang out of an evening, and some even during the day!, and the bar just seems to magically restock itself night after night - there's even a pole for  pole-small if you fancy a go!)

Michele .. I agree .. afrikaans has expressions that make me split with laughter ..  as a "new" generic language its grammar is easy and not as convoluted as the older languages  which allows one free rein with expressing oneself ..
Andrewette .. Welkom  by die forum ..   maak nie  saak of jy in engels of afrikaans pos .. die gees van die forum is om herinderings te deel en  die tyd saam met ons te geniet ..

What year was the photo taken..... all the guys marked 1-4 look familiar, but I am toooo young to know.... in my mind I would have thought 1 looked like Norbett Gilbey, 2 looks like a young version of Jimmy Gerstner, 3 looks like a version of jack Laubscher.... and 4 just looks like somebody, but do not know who...as I said...before my time...but nice snaps...
