Received this note from a source, can anyone add anything to this?
"Kleinzee has started selling the houses , first to the existing employees, then ex employeees and then to outsiders. Some people are buying more than two ? "
Spoke to Dad - He knew that it was in the pipeline, but that it was canceled last time he heard. He's not aware of it being approved already, but will find out and let me know, he still knows people in the personnel dept there.
Rumours doing the rounds that Oranjemund is in November,,,,, SO maybe when some of you come for the Reunion you can get to buy your holiday home....
I debs E10/11, where I was born!!!!

How much do the houses cost?
@ Mike A - Figure of speech! Oh, talking of the hospital - I escaped from it when I was 5 when my tonsils were to be taken out - apparently I wanted my "teddy bear", so I started walking, after all, it's just a few blocks away! cat3
@ Mike S - Figures of 80 000 has been mentioned. But as far as I know, it's not on yet! Have my spies out there, they will let me know! meanpuff
Are their houses the same age as ours up here?
I have news - it's been confirmed. Kleinzee and Koingnaas houses are being sold. The houses in Kleinzee start at R100000 and the ones in Koingnaas will be a bit more expensive - apparently because they're closer to the sea, but I think it's because they are newer. I think they are newer than OMD houses, definitely newer than the older part of OMD. Current occupants have first option.
They are also going to build "hop-huise" between Koingnaas and Kleinzee, (just where the road leaves Koingnaas direction KZ) which may be occupied by the Hondeklipbaai people. My opinion - not good idea.
The municipality has not been formed yet, so they're thinking of the end of the year.
I still say - I DEBS E10/11 in Oranjemund! Mike, please put a sign up there for me - it's MINE!
thanks for that Bertie..... 100 000 ... still a bargain, but who will the buyers be,,,what will the local economy that drives the town be based apon? Will the town become a squatter camp?
...and a well placed source has just informed me that the Oranjemund houses will not go for more than 200 000, is it just me, but are these prices a bit way off for where you are gonna be buying...what happened to the original talk of 80 000 or there abouts..... is this a case of the local "council to be".. getting greedy? What do you guys think?
Not more than 200 000 could mean anything between 10 and 200 000 dollars.
I guess you're right, no point in guessing and listening to the rumours, wait till you have it cast in stone....
woo_hoo Hi Mike
I also heard the houses in Orajemund will be up for sale. Francois and are interested to buy one for a holiday home. If it is true, when we are there in November for the reuion we will definately be looking. drinking-41
It sounds like it's gonna be years before the Omund houses will be sold.... There is a technical issue that prevents the mine from selling the properties until the government approves the sale of the land....and this can only be done after proclomation.......and proclomation can only happen once a new road is built between us and Rosh pinah..... so it looks like a case of the more things change the more they stay the same.......
I'm prepared to wait, Mike, just keep an eye on E10/11 for me, hey!
Will do Bertie...... In a way I am not ot sad that things are gonna stay the same for a while longer........ like the peace and quiet....
