I was fascinated by the opening show

Who will ever top that, glad to see Nam and SA participating

May the best win medals

My favorite was that little girl singing and the show with the blocks, the firework was smashing

I enjoyed the opening ceremony.  Was amazed at the precision and special effects.  Looks like they thought of everything.  Even the Olympic flag is waving horizontally in the breeze- in a stadium where there's absolutely no wind!!!!!  They "supply" air through the flagpole through little holes at the top for this.  Amazing.

I enjoyed every bit of the Olympics that I watched over the weekend.  The opening ceremony was spectacular.  Then the Equestrian  -  oooohhhh  -  those horses!   Loved the swimming events  -  just sorry the SA boys could not repeat their win of 4 yrs ago.   The gymnastics  ...!!!!   awsome stuff.

I could easily take time off work to sit and watch through the day.

Have to just catch high lights, the best in the world ........the rowing today was something else.
Even watched a bit of weight lifting.....
Chinese are running away with gold medals.

Talk about the weightlifting  -  did you guys see the women in the 48kg division?  That woman only weighs 48kg's and she lifted 117kg!   Not gonna look for trouble with her!

oh ah and oh dear
just caught up with Olympic news and its not all praise

Ai Weiwei (Chinese architect) on the fake footprints -   He was directly critical of China's ruling communist party, characterising the ceremony as "a showcase of the reincarnation of the Marxist imperialism; the ultimate paragon of an all embracing culture of fascist totalitarianism; an encyclopaedia that encompasses total defeat in intellectual spirit."

Can you say this out loud, I only managed on my third attempt, lol.

what about the fact that the little girl who was singing was actually lip sync to the voice of a less attractive girl.......

For a 8/9 year old to be told you have buck teeth and are not pretty enough to sing live at the ceremony, but your voice is good  - is just soul destroying in my opinion.

"Eager to put on a perfect Olympics, Beijing has swept its streets of fake designer handbags, pirated DVDs and phoney corporate logos.
That dedication to authenticity apparently does not extend to Olympics ceremonies,"

So far nobody has been arrested for speaking out, so i guess congratulations on that.

Does anyone have an opinion about Phelps, the man with a wider wing span his height.  Is he a freak of nature, born to swim ?
