Title: Bustin' to brag
Post by: Cherry (Alcock) on August 17, 2008, 06:37:19 PM
Ok, shoot me down but I'm gonna brag!

My precious daughter Genna, has just got engaged to the most awesome young man and she is doing exceptionally well in London as a Brand Manager.  So this proud Momma is looking forward to a wedding.  And continuing to crow ... my son, Rafe has been nominated two years in a row for the Loeries (advertising awards).

Thanks all for the nice words!  I do feel that if I have "grown" good and honourable people, I've done my job well.  Also as well that they don't know half of what kind of nonsense their mother got up to when she was growing up.  The advantage of course is that you  have "been there, done that"!  image201

Cherry, maybe you should just keep them away from the forum!  You never know what might pop up - a picture of their mother at a wild hippie party maybe? ha ha

Ahhh grandchildren - a contentious issue!  When I visited Genna in the UK last year she introduced me to my "grandchild" - Wiley, the hamster - and was told this as good as it's gonna get!  We'll see!

Hi Cherry ~

On occasions such as these, you have full bragging rights so don't hold back!

Hearty congratulations to you, Genna and, of course, Handre.  I trust he realises how lucky he is landing a lass with desert sand on the soles of her heart?

Can't believe how the "kids" have grown ~ at least now I may recognise them if I see them in the street.  They were always a decent pair of children whose politeness, pleasant manner and behaviour never failed to impress.

Pete

Well hello there Mr Shout!

Thank you for the very kind words and I know for a fact that you also have braggin' rights - I keep an eye and ear out for Dan's musical progress!

Rafe, didn't win a Loerie this time but all looks good on the CV - in case you're interested, one nomination was for the Savannah TV AD with Barry Hilton and the "Complimentary Peanuts" - you may have seen it?

Havea good one!  C

Hi Cherry ~

Don't know the ad but will definitely make a point of looking out for it.  Ja, Dan & Megz are doing fine...steadily developing their chosen careers.  Just hoping one of them gets rich sooner rather than later so that I can retire!  Dan is marginally ahead of Genna in the marriage stakes ~ he is due to walk the aisle in January.

Wow!  Dan getting married too; I refuse to feel old - seems like yesterday they were all tots!

Rafe tells me they are working on the next Savannah ad but of course it's top secret so not even Mom is allowed to know - hee's to another funny one though!

Cheers  All

Ag, Cherry...you know the youth of today...no respect.  It's the Runrig generation!  I've got to be careful what I do to him because he has his own torture chamber ~ it's called the Sunday queue in SPAR!  Makes Scannex look like an express lane.

Congrats Cherry. Nice kids. Your dad was also someone to be proud of. A most likeable and helpful man, I remember he and Austin Hannay-Robertson ran the "Township" Department together, responsible for allocating flats, houses, furniture, etc. to company employees like Ingrid and I, at the time newly married. Your dad was always immaculately dressed and full of jokes and good cheer with a ready smile. His early departure in my humble and courteous opinion caused by the tragedy in Johannesburg.Take pride in your childrens achievements. They are the real gems in life.
