Hi there
Rear ; Gys Cloete ( my brother) then Viv and then Foellie Folscher ( Gys's mate). Nest to Mario Dixon is Willie Woest. Her wa one of the Woest brothers that was killed in the head on accident. He is buried in Oranjemund in a twin grave with his brother Lukas.
thanks Gerda, been racking my brain trying to recall your brother Gys. Oh yes then there's Foellie.
Do you know Gys and Foellie
Gerda we all knew each other in those early days, but sort of drifted apart because we worked at different workshops on the mine, also I was one of the English gang and Gys and Foellie were part of the Afrikaans gang, so we moved around in different circles, but yes I remember Gys and Foellie very well.
True... the 1st year 1970 pic.... back row nest to Charlie is Pierre Cloete..
yes that's correct, Pierre Cloete. Amazing having one's memory refreshed like this.
true... i remember him because he was the only other cloete in town
Greta pics thanks Summy. Pierre and myself used to belong to the modelling club and build our planes together and fly.
Hi Pepe, you well?
Charlie also used to fly model airplanes.
Hi Summy, all well thanks and with you? I remember I used to also fly with Charlie. He was actually a whizz kid from young building robots out of matchstick boxes etc.
How are you doing and all well with family I trust. Keep well and regards.
Pepe
Hi Pepe.
Family all well, except for me, went to doctor today and then for xrays concerning wheezing, short of breathness and in turns out I have the beginnings of emphyzema, can you believe it, never smoked a single cigarette in all my life. Will have to make a few changes in my lifestyle, for beginners a lot more excercise.
In amazement, I look at the stats of the number of views at the photo's...... which shows that there are many an old timer who actually reads the site, but do not post their memories, this is indeed a shame, in fact it is sad, your memories are our memories......
Alwyn Huisamen was my Appie for a few years in the Power House,he is just as I remember him in the photo. He was a first class Appie and was a great help when we installed a new unit. Alwyn was a bit of a rebel but a first class guy and would be great if I could track him down. Anybody have any info?

Charlie still fly's model airplanes I'm sure he's a member of the Cape Town flying club
Hi John, Alwyn was a great friend of mine. I met him through Bokkie van Niekerk as I used to go with them to Alwyn's dad's farm during the june school holidays. I was very surprised to see him in Oranjemund when he started as a appie. I believe he is in Mossel Bay now. He's younger brother Giel also became a auto electrical appie at OM Tech. I would also like to track Alwyn down.
