Heard from a friend who was driving the North Bank Road from Rosh Pinah..... The road is now used my Private Cars, Busses , Taxi's and Lorries........and the Mine bakkies and trucks.....
There appears to be no safety control in place on the road, with no traffic control present, no safety inspector....the road has become littered with bottles, my friend was driving behind one of the busses and an empty quarts bottle was thrown out of the window, bouncing on her car bonnet..... she was also overtaken by a long haul lorry, who sped past her whilst she was cruising at 110km..... a busload of students who were coming to be "attached" to the mine were all pissed as coots at the security gate at Sendelingsdrift, puking over the place.... private road users are allowed to use the road whilst under the influence.... Company bakkies hurtling along at way over the speed limit...... An employee returned from Windhoek in one of the taxi's with a trailer attached.,.... reckons she was petrified as they rode all the way from Windhoek to Omund in seven hours...do the maths and see how fast that is..... The company has a responsibility to ploice their roads...Mark my words...it is only a matter of time before we have a big accident on this highly dangerous road..........
You read it here first.....

Since we moved to Rosh Pinah we have become accostomed to driving along that road I used to think nothing of driving along dirt roads untill my mother rolled our bakkie 5 times just after dropping me off! Never and I mean never think that you are to good a driver and dont need to pay extra attention on a gravel road you never know what is around the next bend!
Do you mean that the bakkie rolled over 5 times or that your mom was involved in 5 different accidents?
idontknow
No she rolled it five times and at the age she is its a miracle she walked away with a couple bruises! dawoman
Hey guys, last week an advance truck tried to go 4X4ing and rolled. The crane at Daberras had to be sent out to lift it. Driver came through the gate early morning and lost control 3km from the Sendlingsdrift gate, on the straight. WOnder if a Gemsbok "jumped" in front of him. Must be that one of David Long, who now thinks that furniture removal trucks are fair game. Glad I was not going in the opposite direction. The "Rooi Lorry" would have been squashed. I took photo's but can't get them on this message, am having a blonde day or can't do it.
Today the taxis were running, in the wet, at horrendous speeds. My front windscreen got cracked by a beer bottle being lobbed out the window. I reported it to the Police, but T.I.A = shrug of the shoulders and claim from insurance. Bloody taxi drivers, when I come back to this world, I am coming in a HumVee with rocket launchers, flame throwers and missiles. Going to take the buggers out one at a time. They don't worry about themselves or their passengers. One of these days I will be killed on that road due to them, and the lorries, and buses, and silo trucks. I don't have the nerve to play chicken....... they is bigger than me, so I just give way and let them carry on driving in the middle of the road. I close my eyes and pray like hell. witch-43
I can think of worse fates for the Taxi drivers .. not of the Humvee rocket launcher type thing .. I imagine a sort of armageddon but slow and all their bad deeds played out in big screen during their painful demise ..
