Post by: Michael Alexander on September 04, 2008, 04:38:51 PM
I got to meet the New GM today....... very disappointed..... I thought he would at least be wearing a cheetah scarf or even socks....... Seems like a nice chap..... very young..... and I at first thought he was family of JJ biltong bar....seem similar.... lets hope this chap gets the supports and brings fresh and innovative management to the mine...... motivate the workers....change all their blue overalls to a nice bright Freestate Orange!

yesno   So did you tell him that he did not read his contract good enough between the lines - the part that said he had to wear ORANGE and be a Freestate supporter to get the job?

Mike, you would love it here in Madagascar.  Everyone wears bright orange overalls.  Do you think they have heard of the Cheetahs????

Hi Mike, we are 2 hours ahead of you.  They have normal cars here, but you have too see the driving skills and the roads are not  maintained at all.  They are full of potholes and I dont think they have any traffic cops either.  It is a beautiful island, but the people are very poor.  They are friendly and it is extremely hot and humid.  Lots of seafood and fresh fruit here.  I work with a Muslim guy from Mali and they have Ramadaan now.  Shell company policy here is that if you work with a Muslim and they dont eat or drink during the day, then you arent allowed to either.  Man, I just about die of thirst during the day.
I have been taking photos and will come show you when I get back into the land of the living.
Cheers

Now thats lousy ..I have a thing with the fast at work .. especially when the weather is hot .. I say by all means forgo food  during the daylight hours ( fasting can be good  and cleansing ) .. but  without water .. NO  its soo  bad  for the system to deprive it of water .. I'm sure long term some  folk have caused damage by depriving the body of water .. Its al fine and dandy if you in a sedentary job but where there is  physical activity involved  , the body needs water .. I do not call that respecting oneself  ...
