Interesting pics
Patricia how awesome, what a cultural experience. The temples are beautiful and so clean, where are the people ?
How old are they some look ancient, the brick one reminds me of Zimbabwe ruins. I love the spindle sharp pointy ones -
Nice Pics,.....Not so much into the elephant rides...but I love the history of the buildings....
Ayutthaya was built in 1350 and destroyed in the mid 1700's. The ruins have been classified as a UNESCO site and it is a must see for anyone going to Bangkok. I love stone and the colour of these ruins surrounded by the tropical vegetation is stunning. We rented a small motorbike to get around, but you can do it by bicycle or even just walk (but the distances can be pretty long). Most sites are open free of charge. Only 3 or 4 sites charge an entrance fee that is nominal, which really surprised me as most countries in the world would cash in on sites like this. And what's amazing is that people respect the ruins, which is not always the case elsewhere. I remember in Cairo seeing people climb up the pyramids despite notices everywhere forbidding it. Thailand is gorgeous and the people are genuine. This was not my first trip there and will definitely not be the last.
Thank you Patricia. Nice pics.
