Before my time....and not my church..... Just want to thank Tuys for going the extra mile to get these slides from his dad.... I am sure that there are many more of you out there with access to slides.... I can convert them for you, free of charge, and put them onto a cd for you and return everything to you when I have scanned them all.... Let me know...
.
Ok! Tuys came to see me today, asked me to ask the forum if anyone can add a date to the above snaps...... He tells me that the NGKerk will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in Omund on the 21st of November 2009.
If any of you have any tales to tell...... please post them in here for Tuys...
I also believe that Tuys will be leaving Oranjemund soon, after a very very very long time here....
are-you-there
Strangely enough ... I mentioned somehwere on the site that at the time of renovation the old DRC organ an american made reed organ .. make Estey .. a magnificent reddish oak case was donated to the school .. they replaced it with a nasty electronic number .. well due to the fact that a few years ago i bought an Estey restored it and sold it to a friend .. was curious to know the whereabouts of the instrument donated to the school .. well Lo and behold it surfaces in Kolmanskop .. the dates of renovation of the church were early 70's ... will post a pic of the old estey and the one in my frineds home ...
Hi all
The old NG kerk organ was replaced with an American electronic Organ pre 1970 - still making use of outdated electron valves .
This organ was replaced around 1980 with a Dutch model called a "Heiligers " using more modern electronics , Integrated circuits etc . The Dutch company went bangcrupt around 1983 , and spares or service became a problem
The American model in its light oak cabinet was donated to the comunity church . Sandy , I am waiting for the photo of your restored organ
