As a kid, my mother and father would receive mountains of XMAS cards..they hung them up on the shelf above the lounge windows.... they had so many friends back in those days..that the three shelves were never enough.... there was about 60-70 cards every christmas at E7-1st avenue back in the 70s'..... As the years rolled on and people passed onto the higher mansions...so diminished the number of cards....My father now receives a mere 6 cards a year.....
In this day and age of virtual postcards...It saddened me to see that the "real" mcoy was a dying ritual..... So I have a suggestion.... To any of you who wish to receive a Christmas card from Oranjemund or perhaps other ex oranjemunders...post your postal address here and I will post you a Christmas card...

Good idea Mike, I remember that as well. My Mom still has the special red/green/white rope and tiny red and green plastic pegs with which she hangs the cards in the living room. Here's my address:

Nice picture of the family M/M.......................we still get cads from overseas, but not like the old days....so you know how you accumulate them (Margaret has a cupboard full of them) then we put them up year after year............................I think there are some dated from the sixties.
