Well, the end of an era, today is the last working day for a number of Long serving Oranjemunders. As the mine downscales the number of "old" timers depart.
Lourens Niewoudt and his wife Betty, just came in to say goodbye after 18 years in oranjemund. My father in Law, finished his last shift at Namdeb today, after 28 years......
We bid Farewell, to the last DuPlooy in Oranjemund. Denise will be leaving to catch up with hubby, Warren Weidemann in Windhoek. Warren departed last month. He was the last of the weidemann's to leave oranjemund, after more than 30 years here. Sheena will be the last of the Jouberts to leave Oranjemund. Paula, was the last of the Wilsons..... and their husbands, the last of the Gotsch's and DuToits..... this, my fellow Oranjemunders, has been a momentus year, with the Last of the Big Family's of Oranjemund leaving, the clans are no more!
