I heard from a person on the floor, who works for J&P ( Parks and Gardens) , that they were told to cut back on the irrigation of the parks and Gardens of Oranjemund...
I am not too sure what the reason for this is.... although I do know over the last few weeks, there have been problems with various aspects of water delivery in Oranjemund...
It would be a shame if the parks and lawns started to fade, as I always believed the green lawns of Oranjemund was one of it's strong selling points/....
Anyone else hear anything?
It would be a shame but it was bound to happen sooner or later.
Hello ? .. theres a river there ... so why a problem ??? although yes we should not take the river for granted .. all we need is a drought .. but then its been raining in the inland source ??/ me I installed grey water system .. all bath water is pumped up to storage tanks and used to feed the toilet cystern .. a massive water saving ... and also a rain water harvesting system .. currently about 1750 liters , but will be adding tanks to the one cellar .. my aim is 10 000 liters .. that gets used in the garden ..
Hi Sandy the river is very very low at the moment and although there has been rain in land we are not getting it here at the coast and they are daming up stream of us and thereis a squatter camp of 20 000 people at Ausenkeer that are taking a huge amount of water and huge farming concerns as well so for us down stream are in the proverbial kak! Will ask Mike to post pictures as I still can;t do it! Blonde blonde blonde!!!!!
A squatter camp of 20 000 people ?? thats huge ... I did notice when I visited in Nov that the river looked a bit low but thought it could just be seasonal ... doesnt sound good ...
As Kaye said . the rains up country are now cascading down.. that doesnt mean a free for all now !! O'mund look after your water ... every drop is precious ..
