Well there has been a lot of thunder and lightning this afternoon, I have reports of a transformer at Mooismeisies on the mine catching fire,

ANyone have anything more on the current situation?

Theres not much around Mooimeisies to get burnt, only one building on the road to Uubvlei that I know of.

Well only Andy or Alfie can answer that for us... I do know the power went of briefly at 4 plant today......

Heard from an employee who happened to be driving past mooimeisies just after the incident, flames as high as SPars roof, smoke billowing out, turns out there was no rain up at Uubvlei, but the lightning and thunder with rain was hammering down towards the south...

Ok Guys

Nothing so so big

A transformer 4MVA about 1km south of Mooimiesies was struck by lightning the surge in voltage caused a flash over which in turn started the fire, the above transformer is called U0 pondock (sub) supply which in turn feeds a few mining sites in the 4 plant area, a replacement unit was installed and powered up the mining sites.
Transformer oil is not a easy thing to put out so the foam unit from town was called.

Maybe I can get a pick and post it later
