I've lived here 12 years and will never understand such primitive behaviour ...
Saudi court sentences 75-year-old woman to 4 months in prison for mingling with men
Cairo: The sentencing of a 75-year-old widow to 40 lashes and four months in prison for mingling with two young men who were reportedly bringing her bread has sparked new criticism of Saudi Arabia's ultraconservative religious police and judiciary.
Khamisa Sawadi, who is Syrian but was married to a Saudi, was convicted and sentenced last week for meeting with men who were not her immediate relatives. The two men, including one who was Sawadi's late husband's nephew, were also found guilty and sentenced to prison terms and lashes.
The woman's lawyer, Abdel Rahman al-Lahem, said he plans to appeal the verdict, which also demands that Sawadi be deported after serving her prison term. He declined to provide more details and said his client, who is not serving her sentence yet, was not speaking with the media.
Primitive indeed! Poor lady.... :nono1:
What Kind of Bread was it?
Bread to make shawarmas ...
So Sorry I would not be able to live in a country like that ... I would get into trouble for opening my mouth ... Sis under such archiac rule women are no better than camels or any other thing a man posesses..
Again see the movie Osama .. that will really get the blood boiling ...
and yes I would not waste my time visiting either .. so goodbye Dubai !!
I agree with you Sandy. As for women being no better than camels to them, actually, camels are worth much much more. I struggle to keep my mouth shut ... actually, I have had problems in the past for saying what I think. On one occasion I did a visa run to an Iranian islands just off the coast from the UAE and thought I would never be allowed to board the plane and leave after I had a major go at the customs authorities at the airport. I told them that I came from a free country where women were equal to me and that I would therefore not bow before primitive creatures who have no consideration for women.
That said, things are not as bad here in the UAE. Although I do remember a ruling issued by the Court of Cassation about 8 years ago stating that a man is allowed to beat his wife if she deserves it, as long as he doesn't break any bones or leave any marks ... Oooooooh, my blood is starting to boil again thumper thumper
So.... DId you bow? How many degree's would you say you tilted? idontknow
Bow ... me ... 23_146_26 ... I had to control the urge not to show them the finger ... thumper
.
Damn Mike, you've just blown my cover shooter shooter
That can't be you..... she's way way prettier than you.....

The media screne comes up but its just black...... idontknow
Oh yes, I did push the play button and tried fast forwarding.
Same here .... did it at work as well ...
this kind of barbarism in all forms takes place on our own doorstep. Unfortunately very few have the courage to make a stand against it. Take Zimbabwe for example where we have a tyrant surrounded by thugs raping a country and its citizens into whimpering submission, starvation and death and the AU and the UN are either unwilling or incapable of arresting these ba........ds and trying them for crimes against humanity.
just had a look at this clip on Singaporian lashing...I want to get ill. How can this absolute brutality be metered out to a fellow human being. Words can't describe what I just saw. I am ill to the core. What did this guy do to deserve this beating?
I think i have voiced my opinion enough about mad bob and Zimboland .. managed to open the video clip now ,, but down to countries that practice such barbaric acts ,, well i wont visit them .. David said that i should spend some days in singapore en route to thailand last year .. refused the ho;iday in maylaysia as well ... well the same as the emirate states ,, they may pander to the tourist , turn blind eye to their " infidel bad habits " in controlled places ,, sorry i wont go ...
There is a program here on the ABC its called Media Watch, and last Monday they showed a very small clip of the video in response to a radio program Perth 6PR posting it on their web site.
The response they said they had was (Perth 6PR) overwhelming in favor of this sort of punishment.
And (just shows the ignorance out there) that they would like this to be introduced in Western Australia.
The ABC Media Watch gave their program pardon the pun a caning and said it was old footage and was used
as a deterrent in Malaysia and Singapore.
I have been to Singapore beautiful city beautiful people, but do not digress there, spitting on the streets is a caning offence
I think education is a better way to tackle these things. Hanging Caning Chopping hands off as you say What Century are we living
in.
