The history that oranjemund/sperrgebiet is compiling is very very interesting. I was born in Swakopmund on the 18th February 1928 . My father Franz Josef Schmutzer (born in Sudetenland Niedereinseidel( wounded on the Alphine fron ( South) studied in Prague. My mother was Hilda Agnes previously Schaefer (widowed in 1918) born Scheibert, born and grew up in Vienna, studies in Prague. She was a chemist. They came to South West Africa in 1924 via Cape Town.
Whilst my mother had the chemist in Tsumeb in 1928, my father had to locum for the doctor in Oranjemund/sperrgebiet who went overseas.

Maybe there was also a locum for shooting the birds aswell and someone to taste the wonderfull pinotages at all the garages in Rosh Pinah I-T-O. Aha maybe she made the muti to make the smugglers tummys work really well (brooklax) before they went home. Instant compost. More journalistic licence. This is fun. Is this how a blog starts? Maybe we should start our own history.
