Title: THe Cheetahs vs Brumbies!
Post by: Michael Alexander on April 04, 2009, 01:22:29 PM
It;s 15 minutes into the game, and my team Suck..... suck...yep, i said, note the time on the clock when I posted this..... coz, there is no way that this team is gonna win any games.... they are not playing rugby, they are just on the same field as the brumbies.... there is something seriously wrong with the Cheetahs....

Will always support the CHeetahs, because that's what supporters do....but the entire coaching and management staff have gotta go..... what a disgrace, even only after 15 minutes....

I think you would have seen this .....................very sad

SYDNEY - AUSTRALIAN rugby forward Shawn Mackay died in a Durban hospital early Monday just over a week after he was hit by a car, team officials said, plunging the Australian rugby club into mourning.

Mackay, 26, died after a cardiac arrest, a spokesman for the Brumbies said. He had been in hospital, critically ill with multiple injuries, since March 29 when he was struck by an armed response car in a street in Durban while on the Canberra-based Brumbies' Super 14 tour of South Africa.

Team officials said Mackay had shown positive signs after being brought out of a medically induced coma late last week, and underwent surgery.

'After his surgery Shawn contracted an infection in his bloodstream,' said the Brumbies' chief executive, Andrew Fagan. 'He deteriorated rapidly and suffered a cardiac arrest from which he didn't recover,' he added.

'It's devastating news for his family, and for all of the Brumbies community.'

Fagan said Mackay had developed an infection a couple of days ago which was being treated with antibiotics.

'However those antibiotics were failing to do the job and the doctors were unable to identify the source of the infection,' he said, and he deteriorated rapidly in the last 12 hours.

The accident occurred at around 4.15am local time when Mackay and several Brumbies' teammates were leaving a nightclub after their Super 14 loss to the Coastal Sharks the previous evening.

Mackay was admitted to hospital in Durban with a cervical spinal fracture and dislocation, a fractured skull, a broken leg and multiple facial fractures after being struck by the vehicle.

Lock forward Mackay had been a regular on the international Rugby Sevens circuit for five years and made six Super 14 appearances for the NSW Waratahs before switching to the Brumbies. -- AFP
