Title: 3G in Namibia

On Friday we will be travelling to Namibia for a 3 week vacation.  Unfortunately my work is of such nature that I need to be in touch with the office during this period by means of my email. ( Really do not fancy spending my vacation sitting in an internet cafe and therefore would like to make use of my 3G)

We have since discovered that my current Vodacom 3G top up card will not work in Namibia :-(

Does anyone know if it will be possible to use the Vodafone Dongle with a prepaid Namibian simcard?  And if yes, what simcard would you suggest ?  Also here in SA one can buy top up minutes and data bundles and a relatively good price.  What are the rates over in Nam?

Anyone?

There are three wire less options in Namibia

1X - 500 free min, speed up to 153kb/s, cost N$175 per month
3G EVDO 550MB - speed up to 3100kb/s, cost N$289 per month
3G EVDO 2.2GB - speed up to 3100kb/s, cost N$760 per month

not sure if you could set up roaming with a SA network?

Try MTC Namibia they use the same 3g as Vodacom.

The 3g Alfred mentioned below is completely different and would not work with a Vodacom phone.
