Interesting thought ... forgot who posted it but the expression of giving power and money to politicians is like giving whiskey and the car keys to a teenage boy .. again its no checks and balances .. nothing beats our ex speaker and short term deputy presidents 1.8 mil a year plus all the trappings pension for life , and that for sulking, so they golden handshake her instead ,, inprivate sector you get what you put in and intereset and what your company thinks they owe you if you get all sulky and leave ? Now compare that to the +- 1000 a month social grant they give ???
... then the speaker of the house , in public jumps down the throat of the lady who "leaked" the info...... wonder what he has to hide?

But I think there's a difference in getting free dogfood and lightbulbs in a rich country in which a relitavie wealth is normal, and stealing millions and putting the money in forign banks when the own country suffers deceases and starvation.

Oh yes there is no denying the " previous regime " had its fair share of corruption .. and yes information did not flow as well as it does nowadays .. and protest was risky .. but there really seems to be a rot here now , the expression they learnt well from their predecessors and have now bettered them at the game of coruption and squandering definitely applies ...

she is accused of not caring so much for the poor but for the spread of Catholicism.
There are also question about the source of some of the donations received (fraud) and also the manner in which she chose to spend it..........

Mother Theresa ,, Lady Di .. sure there are holes that could could punched in any of their glowing halo's ... after all they were only human and not infallible ... the danger being the mission or the ego getting in the way ... Mother Theresa , yes her ultimate goal would be the spreading of her chosen faith , and yes if on a misssion to do so could end up crossing lines ... the issue here is , that cross out any negatives and check the balance of the scales .. she did lots of good work ..
Lady Di .. admired , vilified ... called a whore by some , a saint by others ... ultimately she was just this beautiful young lady with the right pedigree who was recruited into the "firm" that being the royal family ... ultimately was a different soul not suited to the rigours of the " duty beyond all call " that was part of the firm .. with the privlege came the control , a husband who could not marry his true love Camilla ,, endured the' fairytale " marriage produced the necessary heirs .. for her a naive dream shattered ... again producing the necessary heirs .. her ultimate boredom , emotional problems , her infidelity .. all results of her at the time choice ... a hard stone to swallow ..
Difference folks is put all the bad away they gave lots of ordinary people something to look up to ... its a flawed world we live in .. let it all rest there ..
I think we all agree about the issues in this with regards to everyone who has a little of everything 'good' and 'bad' in them.... up to you at a certain stage and time in your life as to what way you want to or are then tipping the scales... everyone know the branding that goes along with certain actions .... and everyone of us also do tend to seek justification for what we have done wrong. Same goes for things we have done right.... Question just is: who draws up the numbered scale on how to classify certain wrong doings... how do you call one sin a bigger sin than the other.... ?
Don't really know the answer to all of this... I just know that your own personal moral beliefs and religion leads you ... and as we are all human we will tend to judge and crusify others in some instances and forgive and forget in others....
Ultimately it comes down to accepting responsibility for ones actions and the consequences thereof ... I'm sure that both souls mentioned did so in earth life and on the other side .. its now part of history that we can all learn from ...

But I'm sure he was ready to pay a price for his cause. Like accepting the fact, that his family would be in serious danger as long he is politicaly active. Even if the members of his family doent share his opinion.

Obama .. seems to have a new and fresh approach .. he may not be able to realise his promises or wishes in all cases .. take the Guatenamo bay .. he wanted to close it down .. he been outvoted by senate , but hey at least he tried .. etc etc ... he appears honest .. but yes so many politicians appear honest .. even our Hellen Zille .. the questions around her seletion of people .. negative comments ... Paul actually made a comment .. and then i asked him a question on how he thought i would manage a restaurant ( not my trade at all .. I'm an artisan that graduated into production management ) .. he said from his view I would excell ... so it makes no diffs about the criticism from all sides about the people chosen , maybe they not experts ( but then the ANC just did the equity and cadre thing and faiiled dismally ) /// I say anybody who is a proven good manager with a track record ... can be thrown into most positions even initially not knowing too much about the whole thing will just apply good principles and due diligence and yes as moving along get to know the full ins and outs of the whole scenario and do reasonable to excellent success ... I know that from my personal experience .. I managed without authority for a whole year ... and ran circles around all the old experts ... its a gift ... back to the politicians .. put ego aside .. put greed aside ... keep your intent ... do not succumb to the heady drug of power .. Single aged pensioners were given a $30 a week increase and Married aged couples were given $10 each per week
But the Politician's accepted an increase to their allowance's
This was an amount of $27,300 paid to each member and senator. Until now. The allowance, which had been fixed at this sum for nine years, rose by $4700, or 17 per cent, to $32,000 on May 1.
The politicians did not propose the increase, which amounts to $90 a week. It was proposed by an independent body, the Remuneration Tribunal. But the Labor Party and the Coalition agreed that the increase was a good thing.

Baleka .. she sulked when she did not get plum pos in new govt .. so what they do pension her off at R 1.8 million per year that excludes the car and other perks ... our state disability and pension grant amount to the grand sum of + - R 1000 per month that = + - R 12000 per year .. her pension is obscene in comparison ..politics yes here I come !!
