Title: Steven Worth
Post by: SandyB on September 07, 2007, 02:01:50 PM
Does  anyone  remember  the  time  Steve  Worth and a friend  of  his  undertook  the cycle  journey  from  Cape Town  to  Oranjemund  circa late  70 's  . I  think  it had something to  do  with  fundraising  for  the  scouts   . in  those  days  it  was  considered   madness  to   contemplate such a  journey  on  a  bicycle .. anyhow  hats  off  , they  did  it  arriving  safely  albeit  tired  and   a  bit saddle  sore .. Steve  now  stays  in Woodstock  around the corner  from  me  .. bump into  him occasionaly  in  Woodstock  lounge ... attached  a  pic  as  they  crossed  over the  bridge .........

Gosh now there's a thing!!   Mike Hardman (brother) was living in Omd then and used to send us newsletters ... I totally fell in love with Steven ... didnt know him from a bar of soap but on just seeing the photos etc etc and then meeting him when Mike and Viv got married ... oh my gosh I was in heaven!! He was a very shy guy... often wondered what he was up to... I would like to get hold of Penny sometime .. any idea what she's up to??  I have chatted to Viv on a few occasions but we never seem to get out dates right to catch up.

Seems to be the same thing that happened the first time you saw Sudbury, too!

I remember my mom taking us 3 boys round the the Worths house on Saturdays, she would often sit with Flo knocking back a few whilst the Springbok Radio hit show was on, the 2 of them where mad about that song " Don't cry for me Argentina".... anyhow whilst they made merry we would play in the pondok in the garden, they stayed in 8th avenue.... in the pondok was an old chemistry set, more than likely an old toy of stevens, we had a blast........ don't know why I remembered that!

Something I remember about Steven's father, Sid was the one Monday morning when Viv arrived at work, killing herself with laughter.  Her dad was on his way to church the Sunday and could not find both his shoes, so he decided to go with two odd shoes!!

Stephen hasn't changed too much - still very independent and doing his own thing in life. He is at UCT doing his MBA at the moment and I think will probably be going back to Antarctica next year. Oh - he's still single!!

Viv has remarried and lives in Pretoria - very happy. She has also not changed much - she & Sandy see each other seldom but oh grief can they cause ruckus when they get together - some people never grow out of mischief or maybe they just bring out the young side of each other. A great friendship.

I live in cape Town and thankfully am also single. I'm the stable one of the family ?????

Penny

I reckon our Braampie has curbed Viv a bit but give her just one night on the town with you !!!!!!- please do it when I'm outta the country. Have you told her about this site? Juanita Lisser phoned to let me know and haven't been off!  I think you should tell the truth about all that shit you and Viv got up to and put security at ease. What you say?

If  you  observe I  been  posting pictures  ..   and  telling  some stories   ... scanning  alone  takes up  valuable  time   ...   I need  to  keep  up  appearances  of  having  a  life   and  busy  job as well  you  know ..   thank  goodness  I  got  quick  access  here  ..

Ok  I got your name    meaning now  ..  pm .. its  "after dark"   a mysterious  code  name  ??  .. maybe  you  should  change it  to that  ..

Hi Barabara
Great hearing that you are well - how is Susan doing?
Remember how whenever we had a jol, Susan was too scared to creep home in the wee ours so used to just take herself off to hospital? What a strange thing to remember over the years!!

Sadly, like myself, Viv is extremely technologically challenged but have told her about the site and will send regards.
